I have an Order character, and one thing is really bugging me, and I wanna get it straight for myself:

How closely are the Corsairs and the Order allied?

Now, I know that the basis of the alliance is that the Order gets training (odd, because the corsairs are not the best pilots in Sirius, but I suppose "any port in a storm") and recruits, while the Corsairs get access to Order tech.

The question is: how far does this go? Ie: can a Corsair fly a Nepenthys? They got the Osiris class battleships, so...

How about weapons? Obviously they can use Order capship turrets, but what about missile turrets? Death's Hands? Etc. etc.

And what about space? A lot of random people fly through Omicron Minor-navy tagged freelancers, police tagged traders, and so on and so on. Should a Corsair go to Minor for any reason other than to pick up weapons (assuming that the answer to the above quesion is yes...).

And, the stock reason for keeping people out of Order space is "we don't want you to see our tech advancements...well, this dosn't work with Corsairs, because they have them all anyway.

Just wanted to know how I should react to a Corsair-it's really the only faction I have trouble with.

Training from the Corsairs .... no realy.

The Order needed a strong ally to aid them in the ever growing threat that the BHG represented and since the Order where a small amount of people in number the Corsairs aided them with the BHG problem and with the people shortage. The Order / Corsair relationship is quite strong. Corsairs are alowed to openly enter Order space , exept perhaps Omicron-100. They still need a permission from an admiral to enter that system. Corsairs have proven worth the investment from the Order. That is why the Order has given them the Osiris class's blueprints , so that the Corsairs can creat a strong capital ship to be in the head of there fleet.

In return the Order provide information about the nomads , the BHG's movement and most importantly: The Order provides Corsairs with advanced technology concerning all types of things. From armor development to weapons and shields.

It's a symbiotic state in wich both parties get what they want from each other , not at the expence of each other.

Also don't forget that the Corsairs have been fighting the Nomads generations before the Order came on the scene. Corsairs are violently opposed to the Nomads, and being the largest pirate faction around, the Corsairs have a larger controlled space than most other factions. (Even though the Outcasts have more influence)

Along with their mutual dislike of the BHG, the relationship was natural.

Also a big part is it wasn't that the Order gave the Sairs the Osiris blueprints to make Sairs a stung fleet. Until recently the Order didn't have the facilities to build them, so they asked the Sairs to build the ships for them. Without the Sairs building those ships, the Order would have been wiped out by the BHG and Liberty long ago.

I think that Order and Corsairs should use their respective ships, for canon's sake, but it's not really my business to tell people what they can or can't use.

Except that the Cannon is that the Corsairs build ships for the Order. That is one of the major parts of the relationship, and a integral part of the Cannon.

The cannon shoots stuff.

Joking aside, if Corsairs build ships for the Order, why do they have their own line of ships? Seems kind of redundant.

There aren't two lines of ships, The Order at the moment has no truly "Order" cap ships. They will in 4.85, but that doesn't change the past. I have been having this conversation lately with several people about the Disco universe and history. It seems like now days it has been the "In" thing to make sure everything is perfectly rped out from every angle, which is a good thing, but at the same time, they dont like that some things in the History of discovery dont quite make sense. Well History is what it is, just because we may end up with the Order having two ship lines assessable to them because of their history, does not mean we can change their history because it doesn't fit with what you think should have happened.

History in a place like discovery is fairly well documented, and you can't just decide to ignore how things have brought us to where we are today.

First off:
Quote:Also don't forget that the Corsairs have been fighting the Nomads generations before the Order came on the scene.

That statement is false. There's a reason humans have existed in sirius for 800+ years without ever seeing nomads, they werent active.

Nomads didnt first show up until the rheinland expedition mentioned in Singleplayer discovered them - and became the first humans infected by them. Corsairs didnt know about the nomads before anyone else in sirius; and the order of cincinnatus knew about them almost immediately after the rheinland expedition uncovered them.

That said, the order has a pretty close tie to the corsairs. The order 'sold' (gave away, basically) the design for the osiris battleship to the corsairs so they could produce them for personal defense and fights against the outcasts. In return, the corsairs provide resources and shipyards to help The Order maintain it's ships and expand it's fleet - this was before Evora Shipyard was constructed in Omicron 100 and began producing ships for the order.

Now, despite being closely allied with the corsairs, we dont often take part in their war against the outcasts or anyone else. If outcasts attack gamma, we'll usually help because we're on the defensive in that situation - helping a close ally persevere. We dont generally attack the outcasts or help the corsairs attack them, however; with a few exceptions.

In general, the order prefers to distance itself from disputes between 'human' factions. We dont care about petty squabbles between corsairs/outcasts or any other groups in sirius - all the order is concerned with is protecting humanity from alien threats.
