Cryer Pharmaceuticals has a monopoly on the medical market in Sirius, all houses and some pirates are dependent upon them for medicines. With intent to increase profits drastically they are now working on controversial research involving Cardamine, Nomads and Alien Organisms to create life-extending and recreational drugs.

Early History
Cryer Pharmaceuticals was founded by scientist Max Cryer in 330AS. The funding source of this is unknown, although rumoured to be from illegally placing addictive chemicals in medicines.

Max Cryer had developed a recreational drug from a combination of local plants and synthetic components; its effects were likened to those of an ancient drug from earth before the exodus, known only from old books and encyclopaedias. Two years later in 314AS Max Cryer started distributing it in pill form as an ordinary drug.

Shortly after this in 320AS Rheinland police found small quantities of this drug had been added to many medicines, after checking sales records it was found that in 316AS there was a 400-600% sales increase in many of these medicines over their records for 314AS. Max Cryers involvement was unproven, however because it showed an addictive nature of the synthetic drug it was outlawed in all Houses.

Denver Research Institute
The first Cryer research lab was built on planet Denver, because of a lack of large-scale pharmaceutical suppliers Max Cryer used his billions to build a large factory and enjoyed instant success. Smaller pharmaceutical developers were absorbed or destroyed. Cryer had gained a monopoly on the market. This station has grown larger since, and has become part of Denver University. Top-level students fight to come here for medical studies, as it is the most advanced medical educational centre in Sirius.

Despite having a monopoly Cryer has kept their pharmaceutical prices low to avoid competition and to keep high sales.

In 642AS, because more people were travelling in space, many more pilots were working in zero gravity locations for long periods of time, where conventional medication wouldnt work. In a joint program with the Cambridge Research Institute, Cryer Pharmaceuticals developed the Cryer Research Station. The zero gravity production environment has enabled Cryer to develop many exotic drugs not creatable or useable planetside.

Advanced pharmaceutical research has now yielded an entirely new class of custom tailored drugs. Using scanners and optronic computers, scientists can now determine the precise molecular structure required for drug to be most effective in treating a particular disease or affliction. The resulting drug is then assembled molecule by molecule from raw polymers; however, prototype drugs must be researched in zero-g to avoid the effects of gravitational pull, which could disturb the delicate process.

Also because of the Alien Import Prohibition Act of 500AS, in which importing Alien Organisms onto inhabited planets is illegal, this station enabled Cryer scientists to study the Organisms from the Edge Nebula.

Cryer often pays freelancers for Alien Organisms they have found on their travels. Also research into nomadic entities is being conducted. Because of their different chemical structure and abilities, also their infective nature, Cryer is highly interested, however has not the vessels to obtain large quantities of these themselves.

Cardamine and Alien Organisms
At this time another drug started spreading across Sirius, known as the Orange Dream, Cardamine was much more addictive than any drug Cryer had produced. The Outcasts had been exposed to Cardamine for centuries, if Cryer could make a less dangerous version, which didnt affect worker productivity; they could then distribute a legal version to Sirius. If they could reproduce a less potent more socially acceptable version then Cardamine addicts can switch to their product.

Aside from the Narcotic powers of Cardamine, evidence shows it has anti-aging benefits. Cryer is trying to develop a drug that doubles the human lifespan two-fold; if they could manage it they would multiply their profits overnight. After research Cryer found that both Cardamine and Alien Organisms affect RNA and DNA in the same way, therefore the two must be linked.

Of course Cryer efforts to adapt Cardamine have not gone unnoticed by the Outcasts. After many of Cryer transports were destroyed in smog alley, the tradelane between Leeds and the New London jump gate, it has been contracted out to Bowex to bring the Research Station Alien Organisms from Glasgow Outpost in Leeds. Once received they head straight to a secret lab where the scientists verify if its particular DNA strain has been previously characterized before releasing it to general researchers.

In 727AS the Atka Research Station was opened, for several reasons.
The first being the proximity to planet Kurile, where there was an abundance of Alien Organisms. Cryer claims to be studying these interested by their terraforming abilities. Samura generally collects these on the planet before transportation to Atka, It is a high-risk journey because of Outcast activity in the area. Robert Fitzgerald was attacked by Outcasts shortly after he left Kurile with a load of Alien Organisms. Atka picked up the distress signal but by the time fighters could scramble the vessel had vanished into the mists of the Kunashir Cloud. Because Atka is constantly being attacked by outcast forces Bounty Hunters are housed there to help protect, and also acquire outcast subjects for testing.

The second reason was to intercept passing Cardamine convoys, these fly close to Atkas location, enabling bomber squadrons to be relayed for destruction or to obtain this cargo.

The third reason is that it is out of legal jurisdiction; therefore their synthetic marijuana product can be produced and distributed from here, also in inhumane human testing can be applied. As on scientist states: We have to do distasteful things at times to provide Sirius with the finest in medical research.
These subjects have been known to escape and cause serious damage to those on the station, one report shows:
"Test subject 04227986 escaped from her containment area a few nights ago. She managed to kill several guards between the subject area and the communications centre. Once inside the communications area she continued her slaughter. She wasnt discovered for twelve minutes. We were able to recapture her alive, though she injured three more of us in the process."

Diplomacy
Hostile:
Outcasts, Hackers, Rogues, Phantoms, Xenos, Farmers Alliance, LWB, Unioners, Red Hessians, Ravens - (actively hunted)

Unfriendly:
Mollies, RFP, Junkers

Neutral:
Corsairs, Gaians, all not stated elsewhere

Friendly:
Gateway, Synth foods, Interspace, Hogosha, BAF, BPA

Allies:
LPI, LN, LSF

Houses:
Liberty Allies: income from tax, medical education
Bretonia Friendly: developing alongside their researchers
Kusari Neutral: no influence, but they require medicinal supplies
Rheinland Unfriendly: Bad early history, Liberty/Rheinland conflict, but they need pharmecuticals
Gallia Hostile, not friends with junkers, but will need to explore area for chemical research, gallia have their own medicines

Ships
Most transports except Pirate, Liners (limited to station managers and above)
Freighters

Fighters:
Civilian Bomber
Falcon
Civilian Freighters
(NPC's only use the civilian ships)

Lower rank Researchers fly freighters, higher ranks fly transports (but not Adv. Trains, Whale, ones which look like they could be worked in - BWT etc. - of course those which wish to stay in Freighters are welcome to)

Liners are for the station managers, vessels to move around in, as well as sometimes conducting major experiments onboard.

Bombers are for the fighter wing, involved in terrorising cardamine smugglers and defending stations. Remember we are mostly scientists, so only this wing are a militaristic arm - only this wing has offensive vessels. Because the NPCs only fly Civilian fighters (Falcons and Hawks we follow suit with Civ Bomber/Eagle)

Heavy transports (Adv. Train etc.) are for the delivery wing - delivering pharmeceuticals from the station and supplies back. As well as a small amount of Synthetic 'alternative medicine' - although the Hogosha will be the main deliverers of this. And of course we deny all contact with them, and this substance.

Weapons - generic/civilian/zoner.

Operations
Exploration
Research
Sample gathering including outcast human subjects
~ (Cryer is scientists first and foremost)
Cardamine traffic halting
Station defence
Pharmaceuticals transporting
Synthetic Marijuana transporting (on a very small scale)
Supplying Bases (polymers, food, water, oxygen, etc.)

Naming convention:
Cryer|jobdescription/name.callsign
Names would only be given to high ranking officials chief scientists, base managers, fighter pilots/general researchers would not have names in the callsign. If there is only a first name (break in first name signified by dot) it means they are a Cryer family member the elite of Cryer Pharmaceuticals

Name format for Researchers is:
Cryer|Researcher.number
the number is 3 digits, the first being 1-6, which refers to stationed location and activity: 1,2 are Denver, 3,4 are Cambridge, 5,6 are Atka. The lower number in each refers to your clearance code, for example 3's have no involvement in nomadic, AO or cardamine research, they are solely medicine researchers. 4's are involved with the revolutionary studies. the second digit refers to your rank within division - 1-6 (in this case lower number is higher ranked). And the third is your ID number within that rank - for example if there are 2 people ranked the same it could be 432 and 437
This is because you may want to RP an ordinary ranked researcher, for example number 348 - which shows Cambridge, standard research, basic testing, ID number 8
Or you might want to be a high status scientist: eg. 410 - Cambridge, revolutionary studies, research leader
The last digit can be anything, it doesn't refer to rank, only a way to differentiate. except remember the higher the rank the less people, therefore lower numbers.

New members will be assigned low ranks in standard research, through reports, discoveries they gain rank, before becoming low rank in revolutionary research if they choose, and progressing up within that.

Ranks:
CEO: Emily-Jane Cryer Cryer|Emily-Jane.(CEO)

Station Managers - these are not often seen in space (except for the moving one obv.) they may attend important meetings and therefore require expensive transportation, These are also used whenever they require to move locations. They are Chief Scientists (4 max at present):
Valdez Manager: Evan Cryer Valdez.Research.Station
Atka Manager:
Cambridge Manager:
Denver Manager:

General Researchers - these are the explorers and sample gatherers, Transports/Freighters only:
Cryer|Researcher.149
Cryer|Researcher.352

Transport Captains - these are the deliverers of Pharmaceuticals all around Sirius and they also restock the bases (polymers, food etc.):
Cryer|Transport.A06

Fighters - there to defend Cryer bases such as Atka, but also to halt and destroy cardamine shipments (//4.85)
Cryer|Fighter.green15

Ummm... try switching things about. The Outcasts HATE Cryer. With a passion. Cryer is threatening the Oucasts' drug empire. In fact, the Corsairs are much less hostile to Cryer than the Outcasts. I don't know exactly what the Cryer/'sair relationship is exactly, though.

Okay that makes sense, it was a bit of a wild thought. Perhaps they would be using Atka to intercept and attack Outcast drug-runners then, and then performing studies on the cardamine cargos they gain.

Kindof adds in another side to a faction idea - a PvP aspect, which is attractive

EDIT: Also added in this

Quote:Atka claims to have been built there for Alien Organisms research, probably true. But I expect a few other alterior motives:
They need a base out of the houses to produce Synth Marijuana
They need a base on the cardamine trade route to intercept their cargos for research and to eliminate the opposition.

Ja, exactly. I'd suggest talking to some of the OC and 'sair faction leaders about Cryer's diplomacy with them. I'm not quite certain about the 'sair/Cryer relationship, so talk to the Brotherhood about that.

Okay, spoke to a few RM, it seems that although being a Liberty corp and having an unfriendly relationship with Rheinland, they rely on Cryer for pharmecuticals, no other company makes them. Therefore we consider each other neutral

Definately hostile with outcasts... they're major rivals and winning, cryer seek to understand cardamine and improve upon it to become market leaders. To gain it for experimentation and to stop its influence they halt and destroy shipments in sigma 17, or tax it. (I'll have to look at the ID's to check this is reasonable)

At present theres not much profit in trading/smuggling, have to see
what happens next mod regarding that. it'd be synth maj/pharmecuticals out but theres a few possibilities from there, we could ship polymers back, food, water, oxygen, alien organisms. Or do round trips.
As it stands its not greatly profitable, but its not bad and its adaptable. Those I've worked with in the past know me for my trade routes, so I'd be sure to find several reasonable or good ones for members to work with.

Ships: Borderworld (makes sense, that is where the bases are) and civilian - friendly with Ageira and Liberty forces (perhaps a few of their ships too?)

Corsairs: hmm, need to contact the leaders. We are actively enemies of outcasts, corsairs not for any defined reason. The enemy of my enemy is a friend right? Also they need pharmecuticals. Interestingly figures-wise the order really like synthetic marijuana??

Houses: Cryer actively seeks to make Synthetic Marijuana legal cargo, it was at one time, and aside from its addictiveness and high, there is no unhealthy side-effects (think like tobacco or alcohol but healthier)

ID's seem Ideal in terms of cardamine and corsairs:

Quote:Corsair ID

Pilot carrying this ID is a Corsair, who:

* Cannot ally with any lawfuls except with Cryer and Kusari lawfuls against the Outcasts and their allies

Cryer Pharmaceuticals ID

Pilot carrying this ID is employed by Cryer Pharmaceuticals, who:

* Can trade and escort traders

* Can hunt pirates and terrorists within Liberty, or within systems where Cryer has a base, or in self-defense, or to protect another trader.

* Can demand that Cardamine that is on any ship be jettisoned and destroyed, and attack to enforce that demand

* Cannot ally with any unlawfuls except with Corsairs against the Outcasts and their allies

* Cannot fulfill bounty contracts

* Cannot participate in any unlawful actions

Allowed ships: Fighters, Bombers, Freighters, Transports, Liners

Thats about all i can come up with for now without writing it out RP-wise (who's the current owner etc. - i guess it'd be a cryer relative) Seems Corsairs and Cryer do have some sort of alliance, and cryer can terrorise cardamine smugglers:)

Any other ideas?? (hardly anyone ever replys to my threads:(- maybe its just i'm too perfect?)

current cryer ID doesn't allow demanding cardamine to be dropped and enforcement through force:(but 4.85 shouldn't be too far away:)

Ship-lists:
Transports:
I think any but Liners and Pirate would be acceptable (your thoughts?)

Fighters:
Probably bombers would be most applicable, as they would primarily be used to attack and destroy transports, but also some VHF could be useful
Borderworlds range (Falcata etc.) - we do operate in the borderworlds
Ageira (Havoc, civilian etc.)

I'm not sure of cryer relations with GMG, they work pretty close to each other in the Sigmas, but I guess GMG give cryer fuel, and get given medicine in return... seems pretty friendly between them, both need each other. Hopefully speak to Orin about this.
perhaps stinger and taiidan?

Also any other faction leaders who want to discuss relationship, i think most of them are pretty friendly, except outcast and allies

Please some help/advice/opinions needed!!!!!?!!!!!

reference to this:
http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...=26545&st=0 - Valdez Research station

Faction tag... hmm... CP|name
eg.
CP|Emily-Jane.Cryer - current CEO, a direct descendant of Max Cryer (potentially)

Or Cryer|name or Cryer|jobdescription.number
at the moment i'm running around in a starflea Cryer|Researcher.601 contacting faction leaders.
---afterall, I am researching

EDIT: WOW!! Just found some awesome rumours which confirm a lot and also add in some little story ideas,
will throw the SS's in tomorrow. Just had to get it off my chest: I love Cryer!

The rumours from Atka:
I tried to put them in an order so the 3 sections (alien orgs/cardamine/outcasts) would link together, note the last one comes from a Zoner, thats why its separated.

with reference to fighter ships:
All Cryer NPCs fly hawks and falcons with improved flashpoints... thats civ ships with civ weapons. We should probably follow suit, therefore
Civilian Bombers and Falcons.

Almost any Transport except Pirate train, or transport.
Consult before choosing Liners, or Barge (if it'll exist)

Okay, alomost all collating is done now before writing it up, just want some SS's of the bases and to hear from some corsairs

And any criticisms positive or negative please?
Perhaps i should move this into flood, at least then i might get some response out of you:P
