You probably all know, that nearly every pilot currently equips graviton shields. For one simple reason, they have a 20% resistance to pulse damage.

Some stats:
Laser (G 0.8 * M 1.0 * P 1.2)
Plasma (G 1.2 * M 0.8 * P 1.0)
Tachyon (G 1.0 * M 1.2 * P 0.8)
Neutron (G 1.0 * M 1.2 * P 0.8)
Particle (G 1.2 * M 0.8 * P 1.0)
Photon (G 0.8 * M 1.0 * P 1.2)
Pulse (G 0.8 * M 1.0 * P 1.2)

These are 7 weapon types, and clearly graviton shields are superior, for they take less damage from 3 types of weapons... We on the Balance team figured it would be best if Pulse weapons dealt equal damage to all shields. Thus one would not be at a default disadvantage for choosing molecular or positron shields.

Also pulse weapons would get a slight decrease in damage some 10% to remain the gameplay similar to what we're used to...

Do you agree with purposed changes? these would be Pulse (G 0.9 * M 0.9 * P 0.9) or 1.0 for all...

Let me clarify this would effect pulse weapons only that is corsair and civilian shieldbusting line... not Infernos

Sure why not, its an even change, may get upset cause your shield is 10% downgraded, but on the flip side so is theirs.

I agree with this.

Btw, it is the pulse weapon that will get -10%, not graviton shield. Because gravitons are by far the most used shields because of pulse weapons, this change would effectively make pulse weapons 25% better (from 0.8 effectivity to 1). Therefore pulse weapons would get slight damage nerf.

EDIT: In fact, I would lower it more, 20% like Mjolnir suggests. Still voting 'Yes'.

Nah, it isn't a big enough difference, since no ship uses all-shieldbusters.

The only time where it could be considered an issue is during capship battles. Perhaps making all capships use a generic shield type would work?

Or...you could make 3 different types of shield buster...maybe factionalise them, so the appropriate shields are actually used by the appropriate factions...although, that might be too much hassle, in which case, I concur with the initial idea.

As for graviton being superior against standard weapons...all laser, photon and pulse weapons are fast refire, low damadge. This means that you need to be more accurate to do similar damadge (Where a 2.00, 1000 weapon would have to hit once, a 8.33, 250 essentially has to hit 4 times), and this is where regeneration comes in.

Leave it as it is, one may choose to use Graviton shields, for they are better against Pulsweapons, but i usualy mount also guns which are more effective against Graviton shields, so the difference is minimal.

All my ships use Grav shields, but I'd rather not. IMO, we should copy NPCs in their shield use, but it's really not an option when your shields get shredded by shield busters... then again, the shields will still get shredded no matter what, but less so this way.

my LPI patriot used to use 4 debilitators =P

I couldnt kill anyone but it was funny draining people's energy while they tried to fight the LN caps.

I am all for this move. Strategy in shield selection needs to be returned.

Also, why are Debilitators/Cids limited against shield types but not Infernos?
(^^This is a rhetorical question to solidify the reasoning in the argument for the change. The answer is obvious and irrelevant.)

I voted "other"

1. Pulse guns should do equal damage to all shield types

2. How much damage they should do I don't really know.... personally I think they eat even graviton shields quite fast (90% of current server fights), so I'd give them same damage to all shield as they have vs gravitons now..

so -20% decrease in pulse weapon damage.

Now before you go OMG MY COLADA WILL DO ONLY SOME 800 DAMAGE or MY IMP. Deb will do only some 500......they already DO that. Since everyone mounts graviton shields just to counter the Debilitator/Tizona spam, so it basically wouldn't change anything.
