Uhm, yeah, Im back to Discovery after month or two of pause after that "bad time"...
Well, anyways, I would love to hear your opinion, Im planning something (How surprising) ... What Id like to know is:
What Cruiser/Battlecruiser (But not Battleship) is the largest one availiable? Now I mean big construction, and before all, capable of taking BIG number of people onboard. And I dont really care about Fighting capabilities.... Naturally what comes to my mind is Albatross, but well, I want to know some opinions... If you can name like... 3 largest I would be Really gratefull:)
Cheers,
Elvin

"and BOOOOOOO another indie cruiser on disco booooo you again" - while it was probably meant as a joke ... we should REALLY get rid of that kind of prejudice on the server....
regarding to the size - there is little lore about it...
we can only judge by the general shape and maybe the number of windows about the number of crewmembers.
- the 4.85 praefect has few windows - but they are spread over the whole ship - so it suggests that large parts of it are actually inhabitable
- the 4.85 BHG battlecruiser has a HUGE number of windows all over the larger parts of the ship - making it look like its actually both, a troop transport and a warship ( maybe a bit like the russian helicopter "Hind" - which is both, a gunship and a transport )
- the 4.85 BHG destroyer has only very few windows - and doesn t look like its a slightly larger gunboat
- the 4.85 IMG battlecruiser looks like it can hold quite a big number of crew, too - but not as much as the BHG BC
- the outcast destroyer has a messed up scale and doesn t look like it needs many - also due to the lack of any windows of freelancer style.
- the liberty cruiser appears to be rather small - both in sheer size and it also doesn t look like it needs a large crew to be operated
- the 4.85 liberty battlecruiser won t have many windows - and looks more like it runs with a rather small crew - its also quite a sleek design
- the bretonian destroyer is large and appears to hold quite some crew - but compared to some other cruisers, its rahter smallish, when it comes to how many ppl you can imagine to be aboard - the ship is large... but most parts don t look like they are made for the crew to live in.
- the rheinland cruiser looks much larger than it is. - its a bit dumpy and comes with a fully operational docking bay. - it doesn t show many windows.... but one can imagine that its quite roomy - not as large as the BHG though.
- the kusari destroyer is more a larger gunboat...
- the zoner destroyer is large and quite massive and uses its voluminous extensions as cargospace - for transporting refugees ... it might do... but when its about the crew - it probably holds only a few people.
all in all - i think that the 4.85 BHG battlecruiser will be the ship that has the largest crew.
when its about the size - i believe that the corsair cruiser is one of the very large ones, so are practicly all the battlecruisers ( they are quite similar in size ) - also the outcast destroyer is not really small ( its just flat - but not really small )

Well, It prolly was a joke, but sorry, Im taking Discovery rather seriously and things like capwhore or "another indie cruiser" sound rather offensive to me.
And thanks, looks like you have get my point... I dont really want to use BS, altough it would be maybe better for the job...but its still a battleship.
So I want cruiser, it would be more like command-center than a warship ( Thats just a metaphor, not the real purpose) ... So I want the one which would be possibly capable of taking in a large number of people, not really troops, but Scientist, engeneer, mechanics, and such, so when ive told "largest" it wasnt really about the hitbox, but number of rooms, so to say. And I have forgot to mention that it should be legal, or, rather -neutral, so Corsair and Outcast vessels will not be best choice, since I think that Houses wont really accept that, no matter what is inside and what is his purpose. It also should look more defensive than offensive, because it will never be agressor... Thats why I so far looked on Albatros and Zoner Destroyer.

as semi independent ( literally that time - as it sounds like an explorer that is not bound to house boundaries but rather to other ideals ) - the IMG or the zoner warships would do best...
however.... military warships are not out of question. - depending on your point of view.... there is the option that whoever sponsors you also sponsors the ship.
for example - in the TV show Babylon 5... there are several factions exploring - the large semi private ( civilian ) organization ... i think IEC ( something like "Interstellar explorer corporation" ) with tremendous political power. then there is the earth force ( basicly the space navy ) - and there are private exploration teams.
the earthforce uses destroyers and cruisers of military build to explore, cause those ships provide the instruments, the protection and the highly trained crew ( and also - due to the nature of the earth force - are under a strict command chain, in case something is discovered that must not reach the public )
the explorer corporation is a political power - backed up by the senate. they have their own ships that are ... in the show .... a lot more sophisticated when it comes to deep analysis of a phenomenom but other than that - unarmed and rather weak. - but they are backed up by the earthforce... so when in trouble - they can call for military help.
the last ones are the private explorers that use smaller ships and smaller crews. they often depend on the military - but are not part of the command chain - and do not have to justify their results. - but they do not possess any larger ships.
in sirius .... it might easily be possible that an explorer gets a mandate from the military - and so he gets a military crew and a ship. - so it IS possible to be a civilian explorer in a liberty battlecruiser for example. - such a ship would not be part of the liberty navy as such - but would have to deal with everything the navy stands for ( so you re unlikely to operate in rheinland or most omicron space )
having a zoner / IMG warship would put you more into the IEC folder - being part of a civilian cooperate operation that can afford such a ship. with such a ship you d be free to go anywhere - at your own risk. however - both ships are not really very large. ( i don t think a ship like a zoner destroyer uses more than a few dozens crewmembers - and the IMG BC is about in the same mold )
Well what it exactly should be will be clear as done as Im done with the Biography... but its biography of captain and a LOT of crew(Uh-oh, more than 35 people from the crew already have name and face) members, even with illustration (Um, yeah Im making pictures of my crew, captain, base and everything else... I even wanted to make some of the ship but thats a problem when I dont know which one it will be...) so it will take a little more time untill its done... But in short, its not really about exploring. Captain and owner is a VERY rich noble from Brittania, with organisation which is interested in all sort of thinks, especially then moneymaking, trading and science(Thats a secret, but this one is the most important) and will be based on Gran Canaria(So noone will peek into his things, and his affilation will be Zoner, altough not fully so to say)... The cruiser is supposed to be his personal vessel, think of it as a flagship... But the most important researches and organisation of his company (And also the secret things hes conducting) should be based on the ship as well, thats why I want it to have so much space for crew and cargo as possible.
