I just noticed decreasing number of pirates who actually RP and growing numbers or " 15m or die ".

It must be coming on Christmas. The repeat new years threads are popping up again.

I saw this kind of thread this time in 06. The pirates aren't depleting, there are more than ever.

The standard in which pirates role play and individual pirate activity changes from place to place anc varies. For example. At one stage, they where all in my time zone. I never got pirated.

Now they are all nubs that are on late at night in their gunboat waiting for me to pass them.

Wonderful isn't it.

Bah...Elvin bet me to it:)

Well ... Black.Pearl has not pirated in about 2 months now. Even though Black.Pearl has a Pirate ID I am abstaining from actual piracy for a while in protest. I'm tired of all the ludicrous PVP whoring going on. I'm quite happy the admins are enforcing the bounty system (that is where a bounty hunter actually has to be seeking a bounty on my character). Its quite refreshing to see that bounty hunters will be forced to actually role play as bounty hunters and NOT police or military.

As for the spam here by N00blet ... my point once again stands ... flood overruns the banks. Too bad a decent discussion/poll has turned into pointless flood.

It was in General Discussion. I answered the question. (You may notice the catspam was introduced as part of an edit.)

The question itself, apologies Verm, is in my view irrelevant. Frankly, it is thanksgiving, not to mention everyone is waiting for 4.85 before they play, hence, player numbers seem low. Pirates usually have the lowest populace on the server at a given time, as traders take the highest populace, followed by people in Liberty and undecided-about-what-they-want-to-be new players. (Regardless, this is either a doom and gloom thread or a valid point which has been discussed so many times before there is no point in discussing it so soon.)

Also, does it matter whether the topic is in Flood? It only means your post count will not rise, and most people will stay out of valid discussions in Flood if you politely ask them to.

Anything I say is not intended as offensive, and to try and deliberately misinterpret it as such would be an attempt at trolling via misrepresentation.

It's not a conspiracy, it's localised bias. They're not intelligent enough to form a conspiracy.

Oh... I can assure you. Black.Pearl is alive and pirating. Just not very often. Heh. If you want me to, I could get him to pirate more often and kick up some dust and get more pirates around.

I'm trying to pirate quite often. But I see what you mean about it. I would have to agree with you there that RP pirating is on the decline.

I see the turning point to worse after "halt is not a demand" decision. And the later tendency for gang banging the lone pirate while he's trying to RP.

For pirate to properly to RP he or she has to given a chance to do so. Lately the situation has not been very favorable to have longer conversations.

My advice is that if you, as a trader, wish to be pirated, join a trading faction Bowex), RepEx, SynthFoods, DHC or such (or name your ship like that) so you are supposed to get pirated on RP basis. And don't engage cruise straight away. Even if the pirate has a CD and he manages to stop you he has alaready decided that this is not an RP opportunity but a quick job. Please type some reply. Hold still for a while and if you then feel the pirate is not in it for the RP then hit cruise.

The first impression is that what counts. If you are holding still (even if you are mute) it will give the pirate more chance to compose a better RP sentence than 2 mil or die. But if you are twitching and look like you are trying to make a break for it you have reduced his option to one: 2 mil or die.

If you want to be RP pirated don't go to Sigma-13, but fly the common routes like Liberty -> Bretonia or Bretonia -> Rheinland.

And give feedback to the pirate in PMs after the situation, be that good or bad. But please keep your language civil and aviod using the leet speak, like "ur pirating sux. RP more."

Personally I at least try to keep in mind traders who would like to have some RP. And most enjoyable RP pirating experiences have been in more quiet systems, like Dresden, omegas, magellan and Suttgart. The worst are usually in any house main system.

To have good RP you need to have time and peace to do so.

Flying under radar.
