Now, we have some sort of way of a governing body with the House governments through the official factions or something right?

Maybe, maybe not.

But anyway. Apart from the Bretonian and Kusari House's as far as I know do not hold election. (Correct me if wrong), but Liberty and Rheinland are quasi-Democracies of sorts. I will not delve too deep in politics since I'd rather rake me face off.

Now, what if there was a role play group ready to challenge each other to take a 'political head' of the Houses in which they are elected, rather than the military decide things.

Maybe each party could have different 'ideologies' or strategies for the House, like the US Republican and Democrat parties, or the UK Labour, Conservative and Tory parties.

I would love to see this happen since we'd have people arguing and may have fun in the process.

Penny or two for your thoughts?;)

My thoughts on one player/party controlling the goverment is NO.

Reason for such is because that is putting to much power into the players hands and as such could make game play less appealing.

Players would start banning people they dont like from the section of space they command.

If a player were to govern the house they would have to be 100% biased of all players and follow through on everything. As stated I think that is just to much responsibility for one player to have.

Oh your too right there. Perhaps I wasn't too clear, again... I am suggesting a sort of party or group of players take the 'head' of government. After all, the US has the Senate, and the UK has the House of Commons/Lords. Its not a dictatorship.

Just one thing: Could be hard to be done.
Somehow, i feel like they should be in one of the Player factions of the Houses. Best would be if they would not be in one of the Military/Police factions, but those Commercial factions like RepEx or SynthFoods. Except perhaps for the LPI boys, because LPI is privat, not house-owned corporation.
And of course, they should then be in the high ranks of said factions.

Or, those applying should at least be well known by the House factions players. Not that someone get's leader of a house (e.g. Liberty), while he RP's some underdog from somewhere else (e.g. Bretonia).

My thoughts coming up straight when i read this. Will think of more to add later.

It could be good, could be bad, it would open a lot of doors for more RP.. But it's all depending on who holds the position. I would hope for it not to be someone in any of the House factions they are running for, to hold a unbiased attitude and provide fairness to everyone playing in said house.

It would also need a complete government instead of just one person leading a whole house. And as stew said, it's just too much power for one person..

Bretonia has a Prime Minister. The Queen is alike the modern Queen, as in a figure head, although I'll admit in FL this figure head has a helluva lot of clout with the majority of the BAF being more loyal to her than the Government.

I think Kusari has the Emperor, who has the last word on everything, although I think there is a Cheif Advisor who might play the role of a Prime Minister.

The Bretonian, Libertonian and Rhienlandic leaders are named, however the Emperor is refered to simpily as the Emperor ingame in News articles.

I would also be against giving players admin sanctioned control over a House. Currently players playing as House leaders are doing so out of their own RP, and if thy abused the power, they could be removed by Admins.

Typo to my last response it's suppose to say unbiased

and

If anything if this were to be implemented I would have to say that the admins
should take ownership of said positions. This would also make it so they could
just look at sanctions for there one area. It would give the admins something
to RP as well.

What brings up a question to me though is.

What about the outter areas. Nomad Space. How would control in those
areas work.

Aaargh! People stop using coloured text! You're making me think Moderators are everywhere!

And I'd imagine Nomad space would be overseen by an Order Admiral, although there's a reason those areas are called lawless for a reason - no government.

I disagree with the above(stewcool's post), having admins control a player based government is just too much work.

And there is the fact that there are 4 houses, each needing a certain amount of people in said government, and there are less than a dozen admins.

If there can be a government, i say let the players have a actual shot at being part of it. RP is limited enough, it's time to expand the RP potential to the fullest here.

It would indeed be nice if people avoided that so as to not confuse everyone. Even myself, when I'm not engaged in moderator business avoid this moderator shade of orange™. As in there being a reason you want things to be highlighted differently.

...
Anyway, carry on.
