I saw many crimes taking place such as smuggling or theft. But I never saw one crime case that came out of that. If people would solve crimes and have sentences for those crimes ( maybe even death sentences ), this would add a whole new level to the rp. Vote away!

I can't give my opinion if you don't tell us more details about it. For example, how are you gonna do it?

death sentence is already being given without any investigation anyway.

Example:
Case # 34
A Rogue pirate attacks a convoy of medical supplies heading out of New York to Texas. After a tough battle the Rogue is captured and taken into custody. During an investigation it is found out that the Rogue was forced to do this by someone else, just like he, himself, told to the police. After the questioning of the witnesses and the further information taken from the Rogue, the police suspects that the mastermind of the attack was a Lane Hacker [insert name]. After the capture of the above individual a new case arose.

That new case is the same as the old case, questioning the hacker and witnesses, creating fines and sentences and is what all the fun and rp is about. While it goes on the hacker is guarded or taken to a prison. Remember that if the Lane Hacker tries to escape he will be shot just like in real life.

most people doesnt accept to be captured. I am among the rare few who accepts to be - depending if I like the aggressors or not, though, but most people doesnt. Better; most people doesnt even think about capture.

Sounds too clunky. I'd rather hit respawn than have my character be unusable while in jail, plus, how many people surrender? Either they die or retreat.

It sounds good in theory, but I'd be too difficult to implement.

P.S. Sorry for the harsh criticism, maybe I jumped the gun in condemning your idea, we'll see.

It can be done, and has infact been done numerous times (sort of) by factions doing capture and rescue type rp's. The actual trail type thing would have to take place here on the forums. I am sure someone has written about a trial in one of their stories before, but this I think is a little different. It would take a few people who were really into the idea, and all wanted to play it out. It would have to be well organized and not a spur of the moment thing. I can see it been done in small groups, but I dont think there is anyway to do this on a large scale, for example starting a whole system where Liberty would try it's criminals.

when you all think about death sentence is not a simple respawn. It's practically the same as a permanent ban. Jail time is a temporary ban. Respawn is the escape pod reaching the planet and someone getting you a new ship. I'm sure people would think that's really harsh, but you would be amongst the most respected role players out there.

could be fun, but you'd have to know and trust the other side of the fight. I, for instance, wouldn't trust my Rogue with the indy LN that fly around but would if I knew the person (say a [LN] High Command member).

And there has to be a way for the person to either escape even if found guilty. Again, if you trust the person, that can be doable, but there are several instances of people powergaming with other people's characters. :(
