While fighting a bomber in a VHF, the trick is -never- to joust... Slide at a different angle to the direction the bomber is headed, and he/she will find you rather tough to hit with a supernova...
NEVER box against a bomber... it's asking for a torp.
Anchor turns are your friend in any fighter class combat...
You can end up somewhere totally unexpected for your opponent with clever use of the reverse key.
My Xeno taiidan has four black widows, supernova and a train CD... My worst nightmare is light fighters, who are always so close to you that you never really have time to line up a supernova. Maybe if you're struggling against bombers, try getting an LF to cope.
My suggestion is if you're fighting a LF in a bomber against anyone whos got an idea what they're doing is to run away, fast. The only thing I've seen kill a skillful LF pilot is a capital ship, and I've watched him face 4 bombers by himself an win. Once you can dodge mines in a light fighter you are invincible.
And that's very interesting Joe, I never knew about anchor turns. I'll have to try it out.
Don't joust, never let it get in a straight shot. Take advantage of your superior maneuverability. Use weapon groupings, and try to hit it from behind whenever possible.
