if my calculations are correct i should have enough money for a PS3 around February.
Well I've heard Monstar doesn't take so long in any decisions involving expensive ships:)
/pun intended:)
Feb... hmm, wait a while longer, they might be coming with the PS5 by then or XBox 720(or whatever M$ decides to call it).
I've always found it easier to buy PC's as they can easily be upgraded especially if it's just a gaming machine...
All that changes is the Graphics card as long as you invested in a fast CPU.

should i look for a 60GB version so i can play my PS2 games on it. or should i just get the new 80GB or 160GB version and just forget about my PS2 titles?
technically i guess i could leave my PS2 hooked up and physically change them out when i want to play the other. i have a universal component cable that fits all the major consoles so it wouldn't be super hard to do but it still remains a hassle over just putting the disk in one machine.
It'll last you a heck of a lot longer than a PS3 with its myriad of games that are actually of decent quality. Sure, theres Oblivion, but thats only 'cause Bethesda sold out and gave in to a bigger paycheck.
... And even that isn't as good on the PS3.
But assuming your mind can't be changed, go with the 60 gig one and be able to play your PS2 games. Nobody will ever need 80-160 gigs.
Trying to make windows games work on a PS3 is more effort than it is worth. Trust me I tried about 4 months back. You first have to install Linux and then run Windows virtually.
I guess I should throw in that I am no longer PS3 owner. I don't want to fan any 360 fan boy fires but I found myself needing to trade in the playstation for an Xbox. Despite what soem will try to tell you PS3 has very good games, and sony is working hard to create new and unique titles.
However, since games do not reach the PS3 as offten, the games the system does have do not go down in price very quickly. If you are like me and live on a limited income, you will find that you simply cannot afford that many games.
When the Gamestop I work at had an employee sale I decided to take the oportunity to trade in my PS3 for extra credit and bought myself a 360. Since games on 360 can get as low as 15$ used, I have been able to get more games to play.
On a side note I still havent forgiven Xbox for melting Mass Effect on me when I last had a 360. If I can, I still try to play most of my games on my PC.
i have got the wife all gung-ho about the blue-ray so that's why i'm sticking to the PS3. we're HUGE movie watchers and we use Netflix. so we can watch BlueRay movies like crazy for cheap.
plus it has some cool games, i'm still going to try to get one of the PS3's that are backward compatible but if i can't find one then it's no biggie.
Well if you are affter the blue ray, you really could not find a better player. Playstation 3's are like apple computers, they are elegant, efficient and reliable machines, but they suck for gaming.

It looks virtually the exact same. Hi-def vs. Normal that is. But thats just me.
And I'm with Stew... Stupid... Sell-Sell-outs.:(

How'd you manage that? O.o
We had our Smexbox 360 ever since it very first shipped up until a few months ago when it red-ringed us... I think the world just has bad luck with faulty hardware, because ours lasted us like, four years.
