The Lane Hacker player faction is one year old today, or yesterday depending on which side of the international date line you are on.
The active ranks are as small today as they were a year ago, largely due to the stringent requirements of advancement, and the intensive dedication that the faction requires.
It has seen some phenomenal people depart its ranks, and it still possesses the finest group any faction leader could ever hope to attract.
They don't ever complain.
They don't cause problems.
They don't make the faction leader's life miserable.
They just Hack the lanes with professionalism and pride, accepting whatever comes through at light speed, no matter if its an Adv Train with expensive goods, or a fleet of battlecruisers.
At no time in the past year has any member ever failed to do as he was asked, and some have made sacrifices for the faction and its members that cannot be repaid with anything other than my heartfelt thanks.
I could go on for pages, but I will just mention three people who deserve special thanks.
Le Chiffre : You were the finest recruit we ever had, in your dedication, your positive attitude, and your eagerness to master being a Lane Hacker. The saddest day I've ever had in Disco was the day I got your email saying you were departing for other things, and you will always keep your spot in our roster as my right hand man. You weren't just a member, you are my friend, and hacking the lanes without you just isn't the same.
Ernst Stavro Blofeld : Your expertise has carried us on more occasions than I can count, and it is truly an honor that you chose to fly with us. I hope you know that I value your input and comradery, and I hope you'll be with us to the very end.
Phate : How many lives does a Lane Hacker have? At least 4, apparently. There is no doubt about it, you've carried the faction for the past 6 months while the rest of us have been overwhelmed with other things in Disco and you are the reason its still here. You've more than earned a day off from duty, but somehow I doubt you'd take it unless ordered to. I'd give you a medal, but it would just be a picture. Thank you for joining us, I'm proud to have you.
And this, lady and gentlemen, is my 2000th post. I have been trying to figure out what to do with it, because it ought to be something special. So saying thank you with it is what I came up with.
Thank you, Igiss for building this mod and being the calmest person around here. Sometimes I can't figure out how you manage not to lose your cool. And thank you for the opportunity to contribute to this. Sometimes I've doubted whether that was a blessing or not, but I've always done my best not to let you down.
Thank you, Jes, for being, quite frankly, the coolest old guy I've ever met.;)Way back when, you made me feel right at home here, and I can't imagine this year's experience without you. I still wonder what its going to take to get you into my faction. If you don't mount up a Dagger soon I may just unleash Phate on you as a special project.
Jessi, you rock. 'Nuff said. Have fun on your US Navy rowboat.:PIf Tampa is ever a port of call, there's a big hug waiting for you...and did I ever mention that I can cook?
Rob, its easy to forget you're nearly half my age. Its too bad I didn't know you when I was in high school, course, you were in diapers then and probably not nearly so much fun, but anyway, you're just the kind of guy that every guy needs as a friend. Now get Rheinland straightened out fast and get back to us!
To the rest of you, its been fun robbing you blind and blowing up your bright, shiny capital ships. If I could give you any advice, it would be to trade through Magellan more, and buy bigger ones. The bigger they are, the easier they are to hit with a supernova.

Kudos to the LH~. You've done well, weathered many a storm, and pulled off more heists than I could shake a stick at.
Xoria: Nice to have you around, as an admin, and as a player.
Congrats on 2k.

Treewyrm Wrote:all in all the conclusion is that disco doesn't need antagonist factions, it doesn't need phantoms, it doesn't need nomads, it doesn't need coalition and it doesn't need many other things, no AIs, the game is hijacked by morons to confuse the game with their dickwaving generic competition games mixed up with troll-of-the-day.
Xoria, aside from us butting heads earlier, I do want to say I have an enourmous respect for what the LH do. Your piracy is beyond expert, and Phate (damn him) has ripped more credits off me personally than pretty much all other pirates put together.
The LH are an important part of this server, and a very important part of liberty for sure.
I hope, from both an LN and XA perspective, that we can enjoy a long and fruitful roleplay experience. There is a lot that has been done and a lot more that we could do.
Well done to you Xoria. Yours is a fine faction, even if we didn't see quite eye to eye earlier.
Congrats to the 1 year, but as well as being a top faction in discovery. And he is right, in my whole time on discovery I have NEVER seen a complaint or anything negative about the lane hacker. Bravo.

Happy birthday to the Lane Hackers. You've been a fantastic addition to Discovery, and help to point the way to do things. Every encounter I've ever had has been a pleasure.
