Disco Banner

I dunno, I'm bored with spare time so I asked Igiss if he wanted another amazing banner by me. It's kind of a do whatever thing going on between us.

Back in .82 I made the base image used in this...



But now I'm making something more along the styles of a splash image.

It's still ****ty, working out the colours and all that jazz. I have a lot more work to do, but any thoughts or ideas would be nice.

To many planets? To Bright? Needs more of something? Just let me know, it's been a year + since I have used photoshop so I'm not as up and up on ideas at the moment. Also I'm busy cleaning up the house at the same time.



I still have to clean up that flare, it's the start of a sun, but no where near where I need it to be, I have to brush it out etc, I just use flares as a base starting point.*

That's gorgeous! The use of purples would be perfect for 4.85 as well, since Gallia is rumored to use purple.

Also remember I'm going to be toss a bunch of text on this as well. It's going to be like the 4.85 splash banner you see on the main page as far as text goes. So I'm trying to keep the middle area bland since it will be covered up.*

Well, really nice, but I believe the banner should be a wide rectangle.

I'm starting over actually, I didn't like the space portion of the piece. I was lazy and took some NASA sat images mixed them up, applied some brush work, then coloured it. It was just to noisy and bright to me. Also that one was following the size of the image banner for 4.85 which is w600xh400 which gives it that square look.

The new one is a much better (less busy) space background on it that I made myself and I'm using w800xh400 for the size. I think a nice large poster style banner image gives me more room to expand out with. I was going to swap those numbers about and do something tall instead but most people don't like that. Also since this is a banner it needs to be wider rather than taller.

Currently I'm making new custom brushes and I'm going to add a variety of smaller planets a larger planet and a nice solar star. I'm thinking of a "sun rise" off a planet. As an analogy of a new day, and new beginning, a new Discovery. This should have a better "artistic" claim to it versus some **** I slapped together.

I might make a new planet for this as well, as all my planets I make in a separate file and save just in case I want to reuse something. Makes my life easy for smaller planets since most people can't see the detail when you shrink it I can reuse them more often.*

It's a splash banner, like one you would post on Lancers Reactor or such. I don't know how Igiss would want to use it but it's something that should be used to catch you attention and make you look at this server.**

I think the picture should include somthing from the mod aswell as the amazing art and design of the new systems. A bit like the mon'star banner posted by dreygon. Very elegant. Along he lines of the .82 mod banner is still the way to go in my opinion. But to make it that much more awesomer try and put in a bit more of the picture youv'e got there into it. More planets and colours, nebulae etc. Interestingness!
