Incoming Transmission
To: S/D Recruitment Office
From: Cameron Mitchell
Subject: Request to join
Priority: Normal

Message reads:

Hail,

My name is Cameron Mitchell. I do not expect you would of heard of me before this day, so I shall tell you my story.
I was born in the outer circle of the Capital of Planet California Minor, in 792A.S. My parents weren't rich, but luckily they weren't poor either. They ran a small shipping company, transporting goods across the planet to make a profit. Normally it would be building materials, for new colonies beginning on the planet in need of shelter.
One day, they told me they were shipping food to one of the colonies they had given building materials to over the last few weeks. They said I could come with them, to see how the trade worked at a young age. I was 8 years old at the time. The meeting was a trap. The settlers of the small village my parents had been supplying had infact been Liberty Rogues, making a small base of operations for planned raids against Planetform structures dotted all over the planet. And my parents usefulness had just ended.
When my mum and dad left the ship looking for someone to sign for the package, Rogues hidden under the snow popped out. My parents had not noticed them, but I had. I banged against the glass, screaming at them to watch out, but it was no use. My parents were gunned down on that day. I thought my life had lost all meaning, all purpose, all hope.
Then i had new parents, these ones were relatively kind, they gave me food and shelter. But I never forgot my real parents, David and Sophie Mitchell. By the time I was 18, I had realised that I could make a difference to the world if i tried hard enough. I could make sure that nobody had to suffer the same way I did.
I decided against joining the Liberty Police and Navy, they did not have what I was looking for. I became a basic Bounty Hunter, performing small bounties against minor drug smugglers and small gang bosses. But it didn't feel right. I just didn't feel like I was making a difference, my Barracuda was no match for the scum of Sirius. I decided to look for a group, a group of professionals where I could become one of the best. And then i found you.

I am mainly capable of flying fighters and bombers but i am able to fly all types of ships.

I thank you for reading, and I shall be dropping by your office shortly.

From the office of Sir Douglas Bader, Newark Station

"Elena, it appears that Mr. Blackwater has decided to join Mr. Graves at Luxury Liner Shetland. We'll be processing these applications in the meantime."

Looking around the office, Elena said, "Not to be a pain, sir, but we STILL haven't received a lot of our supplies from Sheffield for doing these things."

"Hmmm - let's see here. Oh, look, I still happen to have the passkey to my old office on Sheffield. I also happen to know that there's a ship leaving for Sheffield in about 45 minutes. You can consider it part of your training - sneaking behind enemy lines when they're not looking."

"Ummm - but won't I get in trouble, Sir Douglas?"

"Young lady - you only get in trouble if you get caught."

From the Office of Sir Douglas Bader, Newark Station

"I just STILL can't believe I did that!"

Sitting back in his chair, Sir Douglas visually appreciated the way the excitement in her voice and actions made certain features on his assistant more visually appealing. Ah, well, he thought, just because I am VERY married doesn't mean I still can't appreciate art when I see it.

"Calm down, Elena. That was certainly a fast trip to Sheffield and back. From the amount of things you did bring with you, it appears that we'll have this office looking like it really should in no time at all."

"Well, Sir Douglas, it was quite easily, actually." Pride sounded in her voice. "There were two new recruits that Mr. Blackwater was supposed to process this week that apparently he'd forgotten all about telling to show up. So I just told the boys that helping me a bit might speed things up for them."

She continued, "Well, recruit Mitchell already knew his way around freighters, and recruit Behn was just, well, psychopathic enough that he didn't care, so getting all the supplies we needed was quite simple."

She shuddered a bit. "That one agent that stopped in, though, from the 'Special Operations' branch. HE was scary - made both of the new recruits nervous, actually. It was his idea to..."

"Stop - I don't want to know what he did. Just make sure that it's plausibly deniable for us. I don't mind if Harvey knows that we did it, just so long as he can't prove that we did it." Thinking of just who Elena was talking about - and what some of the things that had been done in the past by the Wild Geese - almost made him sorry to think about the mess Harvey WAS going to come back to. Almost - but not quite. Harvey still didn't have to go to the Manhattan Opera House every other weekend.

//PM's sent - welcome aboard, recruits.

Incoming Transmission
To: Harvey Blackwater
From: Dashiell Damoclass (captain of the BHG battleship Fireball)
Subject: inquiery to Core branch
Priority: normal

Message reads:

Good day gents. I am Dashiell Damoclass, commander of the Fireball. I received word that your organisation has a special branch which operates in the border worlds. This has sparked my curiosity.

My ship and crew used to belong to a special branch of the BHG, the BH_. This branch is all but dead now, all its members either dead or MIA. However, my battleship still resides in the edgeworlds. I am filling my days killing nomads for research and providing assistance to ships in need in the Omicron systems. However, I find it a waste of my ship and crew to keep acting independent. Therefor I`d like to receive some information about this Core branch. Maybe we will be able to have a mutual gain, yes?

please reply over a secure channel*, as I understand that you do not wish to speak about your activities on open comms.

Dashiell out.

"Sir Douglas?"

"Yes, Elena, what joy and happiness can you bring to my world today?"

"Funny. Anyway, we've gotten a communique from another established hunter that's figured out that a steady paycheck helps put food on the table."

"All right, let me see this."

Bader looked at the request from. Then he looked at it again.

"Well, I'll give the guy credit for experience, anyway. Of course, you know the drill, regardless of who applies."

"Yes, sir. I'll send him the appropriate paperwork."

)))Incoming Transmission(((
To:Strontium Dogs
From:Drake Flight
Subject:Joining
Priority:Normal

My name is Drake Flight, not that it matters too much. I was born on Manhattan and lived a simple life. My parents worked for a trading corporation, and was paid the average amount. We were just an average family, nothing to important. But it's not like the pirates cared. I was 12 when my parents let me go on my first trading trip with them. It was exiting at first, but i just started to get bored. Then, i felt a jolt, and the alarms started to go off. "We've been Disrupted!", My father said. I ran up to the view port, to find a Liberty Rouge Gunboat coming toward us. I heard the Cruise engines starting, and saw the missile come from the gunboat, realizing that it was a disrupter. we didn't keep most of our money on the ship, and could not just pay the pirate off. When the gunboat opened fire, I thought that that would be the end of it all. and yet...

That is when the two S/D bombers came through the trade lane, stopped, came in guns-a-blazing, and took out the gunboat, saving our lives. I haven't forgot that moment, and I never will. This is why I want to be a Strontium Dog. I hope that you can accept me, so until then.

Drake out.

OOC: Would my name be S/D|Drake.Flight, or not? if not, how am i supposed to put it? Do i just contact another S/D guy thats on to set up, or what? thanks.

The chime of an incoming transmission rings just as Sir Douglas Bader turned off the light in his office.

Elena was long gone, and he was alone - had been for a couple of hours. Thoughts ran through his head as he looked at the light on his console.

Damn, it's been a long day already - two more ships to replace, with one pilot in the hospital from food poisoning. More paperwork to go through, especially with the decontamination of Capetown and Durban complete. Now it's something else. But ... this could delay his return to the planet - and that would be a good thing, as his wife wanted to go to that new opera opening tonight.

He thumbed on the screen and started reading.

"Douglas, will you be home tonight for supper?"

"Unless something comes up, Angela, I should be home tonight on time. Elena is finishing up the paperwork now."

"Very good, sweetie - and we won't go out tonight, just you and I snuggling at home."

Bader flipped the switch off. Wow - an evening he could look forward to, instead of some moronic opera! Turning to his screen, he noted that Operation Garden Market had been completed by Special Agent DeVirgo. There were a few bounty invoices he needed to post, those could wait until the total due was above the minimum. AP Manufacturing had replaced all ship losses and everyone was out of the hospital. What was he forgetting?

Oh, yeah - those.

He picked up the files again.

"Elena, please notify Mr. Remnant that his application has been approved. He is to report for inprocessing to Sheffield immediately."

"Very good, sir. And what about Mr. Flight?"

"There's something suspicious about his background that doesn't quite sound right. The minor detail that the S/D didn't operate in Liberty space 9 years ago is enough to raise alarms, given his story. He'll have a month to decide whether or not to actually tell us the truth about his history."
