Regarding combat around Freeports / Other bases:

Simple rule of thumb that should apply, and is quite simple to follow:

You do not INITIATE combat within the no-fire zone around one of these bases. Thus, if you are a bounty hunter / corsair / whoever - and you're cruising by and you see someone undock from the bae - leave them alone.

You are free to CONTINUE combat within the no-fire zone if that combat began OUTSIDE the no-fire zone. Thus, you as a bounty hunter / Corsair / whoever start a combat with someone and you're 15K out from a base - and your target then flees towards the base - well, it's his choice to try to flee, and your choice to pursue. Feel free to engage him all the way up.

As far as ESCORTING cargo is concerned - you can escort to where ever, just get the hell back out of there and don't hang around. New York would not be in the corsair ZOI for staging raids. However, there are MANY times when corsairs escort artifacts all the way in - I've chased them many a time and had some wonderful combats against them when they realize it.

There is no damn reason for a Corsair to be in Liberty, escort or not! If you are taking the jump hole network, there is a tiny feasibility, although the route is so long winded it would be impractical for a Corsair escort fighter to accompany the trader.

Liberty is well out of the Corsair ZoI. Corsairs have been sanctioned for being in Liberty in the past. If you are getting to Liberty through Alaska, in my opinion you should receive an OORP sanction. The fact that us Corsairs are allied with Order, is also no excuse to be able to use the Alaska/NY gate.

In-RP, the Order/Corsair alliance extends so far as the Corsairs providing ship building facilities and the Order supplying technology. They would not however, give the Corsairs gate codes to Alaska - a system widely considered to in-RP the most secret system in Sirius.

Personally, for the escort part, I would say - no it isn't alright. As for the second question, knock yourself out. The Junkers are more favoured towards the Outcasts anyway, so they'd jump at the chance to get a Corsair into trouble, and if you blew someone up outside a Junker Base, where a no-fire zone was being enacted, you could expect the RP-consequences.

The OTC is (iirc) a Corsair smuggling unfaction which is affiliated with the OPG (kinda like the Liberty Navy's LNS and LNT ships I guess). Dunno if that changes anyone's opinion compared to a Corsair escorting a generic smuggler.

No longer active online due to a dwindling amount of non-PvP (trading, pirating, mining, etc.) fun in the new version.

Admins have said that Liberty is out of the Corsair zone of influence. I wouldn't risk it. Bad things have been happening to those who do.

I know who the OTC are and their relation to the OPG. The Benitez have their own trade wing too, but we don't send Titans into Liberty space to look after them. Generally we use more subtle routes that don't involve Alaska and can be justified in RP. I'm talking about the jump hole chain of course, which is so empty you don't need escorts to protect yourself.

If you want I'll PM you the route. If you still feel the need to send someone to look after your smugglers, I'd recommend making an untagged mercenary, flying an Eagle maybe, that could be 'employed' by the OPG. So you'd just leave it on Crete, then switch characters when one of the OTC was about to set off. You get the same levels of protection, but it'll draw far less attention then a factionalized Corsair ship, as well as being totally acceptable RP wise and ZoI wise.

@Yuva: If you see those Corsairs in Liberty for no good reason again, send a sanction report to the Admins after you've talked with them to see if they know they shouldn't be there, and send their names to me. I'll present em to the Council to see what the others think of their actions.

Currently Liberty has a ban on unregistered Mercs. This would still draw attention to him and his friend that he is escorting.

My point is, you can't tell he has a merc ID from the player list. Admittedly you shouldn't be using it to spot smugglers anyway, but you just know someone will. An unknown Mercenary will appear as Name.Surname, or something like that, which won't raise suspicion, however if you head into New York with an -OPG- tagged character, expect all the capital-nubs to start screaming the House down about Corsairs in-system.

Plus, why would said merc care if his presence was legal? He's escorting contraband for goodness sake! The only reason I'm giving grief about Corsair escorts is because it's so far from our ZoI.

Anyway, if all else fails, a Freelancer ID could always be used.

Jammi, your yelling and screaming about ZOI. Manhatten offers the best price for our Artifacts. Artifacts is the life blood of the corsair. Mate..its defnitely a ZOI for us.

Anyways, most of the respected players seem to be ok with the escort. And thats all I needed. Havent seen an admin on here yet, but until then, I will continue.

Oh, and who was the other bloke moaning about RP server and not PVP whoring. Yuva..thats right. My corsair blood despises Outcasts. So in RP sense, I will do everything I can to destroy them. And with no zoners around to enforce the no fire zone..he will be foolish to run there. Nothing to do with PVP whoring. All about RP.
