As it stands now, vanilla Gaians are nothing but under developed filler created by the game designers, & listed as basic pirates with a general lofty cause.
How boring is that?
Since the 1st day I chose to play a Gaian, I've always said 'screw the vanilla view'
The reason for the Gaian/AFA/Hogosha alliance is exceedingly simple: we are at war
Gaians couldn't care less about Bretonian nationalism. Siding with Kusari is a logical position & a necessary evil, as we are enemies of the Bretonian State & can be the keystone to a Kusari victory by being their shady allies from behind enemy lines.
After the war is over there will be a whole new set of bridges to burn, but that time is not now & should be worried about later.
The Mollys seem like natural allies, & the NLH & MR are indeed currently under a non-aggerssion pact, but that has nothing to do with overall Gaian/Molly hate...that too will be addressed & adapted one way or another when the time arrives.
The Gaian/Corsair alliance? I personally can't stand it, never understood it, & don't want it...don't get me started:angry:
Anyhoo, as for being 'soft terrorists' where does that come from? The hippy stereotype?
'Green' is not synonymous with soft, & if my character has to begin ripping other pilots' throats out with his teeth after shooting 'em down for a while to get that point across, I'll let him do it.
Sorry, but a Gaian-Kusari alliance makes no sense at all. Kusari wins, then they finish terraforming Harris and exploit Gaia/Eden/whatever that planet is. It does absolutely nothing to further the Gaian's goals.
I seem to recall reading some rumor saying that the Bretonian government didn't even prosecute Gaian prisoners, they were generally just released. Probably because they have real political representation, as well as not being randomly violent or a serious danger when compared to the Corsairs and other threats.

Planetform is a Bretonian company, Kusari sure as hell isn't hiring them to do it. And who in Kusari can handle terraforming? No one I know of - after all, I don't believe Kusari's needed any, all their planets are either gas giants or similar enough to Earth as-is.
So, how exactly will Kusari terraform Harris? Have the Hogosha do it?
(Sorry, Marburg, but I honestly don't have much to say about Mollys that's not already said. Alliance with Hessians and Rogues makes sense, Outcasts not so much, etc.)

I imagine that was before they began to actively betray their nation during a time of war.
I always thought that Kusari didn't care about Terraforming, because they don't need it. They have enough food and population area from Kyushu, New Tokyo, Honshu, and Junyo. They simply don't need to terraform.
Furthermore, who here really thinks that Freelancer is still in the times of total war, where the winner absolutely obliterates the loser and all its corporations? I don't. I think that Kusari, if they took interest in it, would keep Planetform running and fund it greatly, if they thought it was worth it. By modern terms, it makes more sense for Kusari to keep Bretonia's economy intact, and rebuild it. It's not like it's a WWII type thing, where Kusari has to kick the piss out of Bretonia in total war, they just have to prove that the Taus are an independent zone and that the IMG has right to operate in it.
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.

It's not entirely a question of whether or not Planetform would still be around, though - it's a matter of if Kusari would be willing to hire them. "Yeah, we just kicked your asses all over the Taus, but, uh... we need your help." I'm no expert on Kusari, but they seem rather big on pride.
I imagine a conquered Bretonia would end up having its corporations annexed by Kishiro and/or Samura, especially one as useful and potentially profitable as Planetform. While it might still be called 'Planetform', it would be a subsidiary of Kishiro or Samura. It wouldn't be Kusari asking Planetform for help, it would be them utilizing the resources which now belong to them.
And I think the Bretonian/Kusari war has grown beyond control of the Taus, to outright invasion.
I always figured they'd install a puppet government when and if they succeeded fully. If not, I imagine them just getting all sorts of war reparations, including the Taus and possibly some core Bretonian systems. In that case, it helps the Gaians because, well, look at Kusari proper compared with Bretonia - no smog clouds. And they can continue fighting if need be.
I think that, assuming they succeed, they have enough time to develop better technology before they're at a Bretonian level of crowding. And that may or may not be superior to terraforming, as rumors suggest Planetform's methods may not work long term.
The Gaian's aren't really suppose to be terrorist's. More like (what people call) "Hippies". They just fly around and yell over communications about how things -should- be.
On another server (long shut down.) I was part of the Bretonian Confederation (Which was a House Faction, which had 1 leader and not multiple Factions, Like BAF, BPA, Bowex, BMM ect. more along the lines of Everyone was in the Bretonian Republic. [Set up like real world governments.])
And We made a pact with the Gaians on cleaning up Bretonia, cleaning up meaning, fixing Planetforms wrong terraforming. Cleaning Leeds from Smog and debris, Cleaning New London from Debris, ect. Thus the Gaian's became a political party instead of terrorists. With the Gaians now having a seat in the Bretonian Parliament, we could deal with the Mollys' and Corsairs.
Now for the Mollys', we'll we pretty much said "Okay, see these guys. You hate them, we hate them. How about a pact?" The Pact led to an Alliance with the Mollys and we gave them a seat in the Bretonian Parliament also. So, pretty much. The Bretonian Confederation, only had one pirate group, and that group was being dealt with by the Hispanian Liberation Front, which lead to House Hispania....Erm I think I went off topic...just a little.
