Now, first of all there is still a bit of a long haul until i have the funding to buy the ship but after reading the threads about capship thoughts, i thought i'd post here sooner rather than later.

I'm having my eye on the Battlestar Advanced BS. Reason being that i simply love the design!

So I was wondering, what ID's can be used with this ship?

Can I choose to be independant or would it be required to join a player faction? If yes, what are the options?

I like to keep my options open and have therefore not begun to think about the whole Lawfull / Unlawfull concept with this ship yet as it is still some time out in the future.

Generally thats a Zoner/IMG ship... so either of those IDs could fit, BUT if you can think of a nice RP story to explain why anyone else got it... then you are free to make a special RP request.

I would however suggest you wait till after 4.85 (new mod version) is released, since it is possible that ship may get nerfed (or buffed) and you could lose money.

1. BS is zoner ship so best ID is Zoner ID

2. no zoners havent any universal faction.... yes if you dont want to be zoner

3. models of battlestars are replaced in 4.85

4. many caps in 4.85 must be rebought... dont buy any now

Wrong. Nothing MUST be rebought. It is a matter of choice.

Well i know that there are going to be many changes in 4.85 and as such have no intentions what so ever to buy one before that time, even if i DO have the money by then.

I've read the capship thread 5 times now and my questions are still valid and I think I got the answer I was looking for.

So basically I need to make a plausible background story first and RP accordingly.

Hey! Why don't we all get battlestars and go to Tau 37 and cook up a few sabre barbecues? Mate, I just wanna point out, i know how your feelin right now, you wanna get that big ass ship because.

#1 It's big
#2 It's sexy
#3 It's powerful
#4 The chances of you winning a PvP are going to be sky high
#5 It opens up alot of interesting doors in the way of RP

I don't blame you.

But!

I know it sounds corny...

Go ahed and read that post that Sindroms posted a link to as it could really help you think things over. You come onto the discovery server and spot an uber ultimate battleship, consiquently wanting it, then saving up, and eventually buying. But the thing is, if you go flying a cap ship around not knowing enough about the people in the Gaming Community and how things are done here, bottom line is, you are going to be watched, targeted and eventually abused if you slip up in the tiniest way.

I'm not having a go at you.

I've been here for over a year now and I still haven't flown anything larger than a GB because i know things like these can happen, and I don't know enough yet.

An alternative option is try SP, and get a feel for the BS's and see if their the right thing for you.

@Kambei:

no, as a matter of fact, you can stick to the ship you have - no problem there - it might end up with a smaller powercore compared to newly bourght ships - but still... you do not need to rebuy it ( especially since the powerincrease might not even be noticable )

rule 7.3... since you cant unequip power core, you must unequip whole ship aka rebuy... (= you can have weaker ship but you cant have stronger one... )
