In light of the accomplishments of the recent week we will be celebrating 3 promotions: Caleb Atalante, immediate promotion to Lieutenant for his initiative in aquiring rare equipment for our vipers. Maria Atalante, immediate promotion to Lieutenant for her courage under fire in engagements most noteably against the ELF. And David Heilon for his courage under fire with an unknown pirate at Canterbury. Those of you who wish to congradulate Orion can in sickbay, his recovery is moving along there nicely.

We have a new face in our midst as well. Long range reconnaisance has rewarded us again with another Colonial Warrior who has made the long journey from the Colonies. LTJG Larson "Achilles" Tra'ng comes from a family steeped in military service and tradition, son of the late Admiral Lear Tra'ng of the Battlestar Andromeda. JG Tra'ng has made it to Sirius with his own Viper in tact and should be equipped asap from the armory.

In the coming weeks I will be selecting one of you to become Galactica's CAG. Interested pilots should submit their packets to me by the end of next week(ooc, PM me.) Be prepared to fight for the position if more than one of you apply.

It seems our dreams of creating a viable planet of our own has given us some new enemies, but also new friends. Analysis of the weapons Lt. Helion lifted off of the hostile he destroyed at Canterbury revealed it belonged to a pirate faction called the Helghast. Effective immediately, any vessel with a Helghast transponder shall be treated as a hostile and given no quarter in Bretonian or Tau31 space.

:dry: Me and Hyperion were bull****ting with the blockade at Cambridge.

Then all the sudden we got a transmition from a Helghast, taunting us. We all decided to let it slide as there were 6 warships at Cambridge. Then a Phantom joined the taunting. I thought to myself; Ok, be professional, so me and Hyperion formed up to partol the system in the hopes that we might find these too Hooligans. We approched the Ice field neer the Omega-5 hole and like they just came into existence, a wing of Corsairs jumped me. I took a good drilling to my ass and turned to fight. As I turned my alarm went off and I suffered full sensor failure. "All the bleeps were gone". I had a visual of Hyperion taking them on but I had to move into the Ice to lose the Corsairs. I completely lost all sign of Hyperion but luck was with me and I saw light reflecting off Cambridge. I limped back but just in front of the planet my ship suffered "Critical Systems Failure" I had no coms, no bleeps and a dead stick. On top of that I was drifting into low orbit.
I was saying my prayers when a SF battleship tractored my ship into its dock..

Thanks SF, I owe you for that one!

Re: rules of engagement

I would like to direct everyone's attention to the rules of engagement at the top of this post, I'm updating that section to include our current diplomatic standings. Please take a moment to look at it as it tells you who to shoot at and who to scan. This is not a list of suggestions, they are orders. I am very much a literalist when it comes to this sort of thing. Do not exceed these rules. Do not take any 'poetic license' with them. CR is a lawful faction, but we are not allied to all lawful factions, we are in fact allied to no one. We have no obligations to rid sirius of injustice, combat piracy or fight other people's wars. We choose our enemies and our actions based on our own interests. I encourage suggestions regarding our rules and standings from any member, but until you see it in the top of this post it is still just a suggestion.

The diplomatic standings may change on a daily basis so you must review them daily. I will post update notices on this board whenever they change but it is still your reponsibility as Colonial Warriors to adhere to them. Those of you who are waiting on name changes please be aware that its not always obvious that you are part of CR.

WAR: The new war between SCRA and Helghast of Sirius has not effected our standings yet, we are still hostile with Helghast but not SCRA. All pilots are to report any contact at all with members of other player owned factions. I must know everthing that happens to [CR] vessels so I can make good decisions.

Cylons The Cylons are invading Sirius, but we are not to engage them yet. As a faction we are not aware yet of their presence and they are not yet ready to begin operations. So if you see one, treat it as a nuetral until further notice.

Last night I was making the Corfu run in the Hope. Every time I passed through Omega-5, "[Phantom]Glock" would harass me. It was not a bad problem until one pass where a Kusari ship called "EvilTheBadger" watched how Glock was shooting at me.
Next time trough, "Evil" had a transport disruptor and they both swooped on me. They blew apart my ship. Glock was nice enough to give me my Name change certificate back and haul my pod back to Cambridge.

M. Atalante: "Sir, [ELF] is a religion - or something close to that - as far as I understood.
I cannot fight a person or group, because of their religious believe.
Not to mention, they do not seem too far away from the truth...
I want to tell you now for the future: I will not pull the trigger against the [ELF].
We should have learned from the history of planet earth... !!!
Think about the big religious wars in the 20th century. We don't need them."

*hands over an envelope*

Adm. Adama: "What's that ? Another tool to make me speechless ? "

M. Atalante: "My formal request of retirement - just for the case that I am useless for the fleet, now."

*She salutes, turns and leaves the room while saying:*

Amidst the ruckus the Admiral enters from the back of the lounge and surveys his pilots. Seeing Atalante in the corner fuming, he walks to the front of the lounge.

"TEN HUT!"

"As you were."

"I have an apology to make.

Some of you have expressed concern in our current course of action. Lords know none of us expected to find the 13th trib only to start squabbling with it.
It took 2 wars and near extinction to unite the 12 Colonies of Kobol. Centuries of fighting amongst ourselves over resources, ideals and Gods were ended when presented with a common foe. You all fought and died for your families and your people and we are all standing here in the midst of the 13th tribe because of your sacrifices. Until now, all that has been asked of you all is to kill machines. Now we have a chance to build a home for ourselves far from the dangers that drove us here. Now instead of heartless machines we are confronted with powerful idealogues. Human beings with belief systems totally alien to, and in some cases in conflict with, our own. Our new opponents wish to make a conflict of ideals, to use an otherwise noble and egalitarian religion as a front to deny us the home we deserve. The Gaians don't care that the warm breezes of our homes were wiped away with mushroom clouds. They don't care that we are the last of a culture that spanned an entire star system but was reduced to a mere 35000. The ELF don't care that every habitable planet in Sirius is overpopulated by semixenophobic cultures, or that we would become the dregs of the galaxy if not for the promise of terraforming. Make no mistake. Our very survival as a people is at stake every time you strap into a Viper. No one here is as horrified as me at the idea of killing humans. But don't make the mistake of thinking you are doing this because of someone's religion. Don't let the lives of those we lost getting here be wasted at the doorstep to our salvation because someone uses a religion to justify murder and piracy."

The admiral exits a very quiet lounge. Pilots shift uncomfortably in their seats, their previous activities forgotten for a moment. Maria steps out behind the Admiral.

"Sir..."

"If you still want the retirement tommorow, stop by my office and I'll have the paperwork for you."

"Sir..I..."

"Look, your people need you.....I need you. But I can't have viper pilots out there with conscience problems. So make your choice."

"Yes sir."
