To remove the tradelane turrets ? Hah so the pirates would have no worries ? No thats not a good idea at all. Better make the tradelane turrets even more powerfull. Give them more power so pirates will have to think before they bring down a tradelane.

Well that would be an option too, but it would only encourage more people to shoot the guns. As far as giving the pirates no worries, that's what they've got. You show me a pirate who has ever been damaged by those guns.

To be honest, the guns will be made indestructable, so you will not be able to shoot them anyway.
That will cure the problem. Its whether they all have the same firepower as well, when they are done.
Pirates should not be able to sit around being shot at, with little or no consequence.

Pirates: Don't use missiles, CD's, etc on TLs. Blast damage can hit the guns. Energy weapons take them down much faster anyway.

If you cannot shoot guns out on trade lanes, then their damage should be dramatically lowered as well... otherwise it will further discourage pirating in fighters/bombers at trade lanes.

I dunno about that, actually. They're pretty low as is, and in addition, it really should not be that easy to pirate highway systems.

I would just lower the speed of the guns, and tell fighters/bombers to fly around in circles while disrupting the lanes.

Ahhhh, I wondered what's been causing me to crash to desktop! Thanks for posting this little bit of info, I thought my FL install was going haywire. No more shooting the guns for me. Apologies to everyone I have inadvertently affected.

Take the turrets off, and just set a couple of weapon platforms around each ring...;)

Though methinks that'd take too much work, eh?

Suppose it depends if we want pirates to hit tradelane traffic or to be restricted to jump holes and open space.

The turrets in Rheinland do hurt fighters and bombers at present...but, as I believe I have pointed out elsewhere, it's possible to avoid their fire by careful positioning.

My 2cts.

Ideally yes it should not be that easy for pirates to sit next to tradelanes.
However what about lawfuls that during a fight become enemy with lawful NPC's and anything else including tradelanes......
Or what about police trying to stop smugglers and to do so shoot down tradelanes ?
Not sure it is the best solution. Still if lawfuls fighting wouldn't become enemies of lawfuls NPC's so easily, I would endorse increasing trade-lines accuracy
