A Crisis In Leadership

A bad evening for us all. A fire on Sheffield Station claims the life of our Chief Engineer, Special Agent Devil "Menthe" Starr. Ruined the paintwork in the main docking bay. That H-Fuel really cooks, eh?

More importantly, our shares took a nose-dive. Well, what can we say? Synth Foods are a little, how should I put it, "annoyed" at the hijacking of one of their transports despite the best attempts of one of our patrols to counter a LWB force.

Who can blame them? And, more importantly, who can we blame?

Well, following a crisis meeting of the Board of Directors this morning, Sir Douglas Bader and Mister Harvey Blackwater have tendered their resignations.

Now I should point out that there is no truth to the rumours that both of these men had in fact been planning to stage a takeover of the Agency, both financially and physically. The suggestion that Harvey had been trying to poison my drink is ludicrous. Nor is there any truth whatsoever in stories I've heard circulating that Core Agents held guns to their heads and "encouraged" them to resign their positions and opt for early retirement in a convalescent home on Cambridge.

One door closes and another one opens. This means major re-structuring for the Agency. As such, Special Brent "Breako" Mako is taking responsibility for the Intelligence Division. He will take command of the Feuerhunde until a suitable command vessel more fitting his new responsibilities can be found.

Special Agent Felix La Rouche's expanded responsibilities in the PTS branch mean that we are re-newing his contract as Assistant Director.

Special Agent Max De Virgo be filling another Assistant Director position and will assume responsibilities for our House operations.

Recruitment policy has been reviewed. The last batch of recruits failed probation. Shame, really. I imagine if you turn to the Guild because you have nowhere else to go, and the Guild says "sod off", you're screwed.

Now, to orders. I know reading might be difficult for some of you. So I'll run through them once.

Now get out there. Search and destroy.

Director George Graves, OBE

First off, thank you for the promotion. I will endeavor to do my best for the furthering of the guild's future goals. I have several ideas and want input from all of you on what our next steps are to be. Also what are our long term goals?

First question; the Feuerhunde (or Fire hounds, love that name) is what type of vessel. This will play into the objectives we hope to achieve. What type of vessel should I be looking to have built? What personnel resources will I have access to? If I do get access to personnel can I use the agency files to pass along orders, or will it need to be low key and I will just assign missions via personal communications.

Now as to my ideas for expanding our intelligence gathering. We already know a lot about our Corsair enemies. We encounter them on a daily basis. We know about their home system and with this war they are doing our job for us. To bad we can not get paid for it. The Order is still a relatively new group that we have had little contact with, although with my latest expedition our data increase ten fold. The Omicron Minor system is no longer a mystery nor is Omicron Delta. With the new laws the Zoners have passed using Freeport 9 as a staging ground could be an issue, but Freeport 11 is still open for our use. I have heard rumors of a Bounty Hunter base being constructed in the Delta system. This will be good for us and CORE operations.

With this in mind I think we need to move further into exploring the Nomad systems. I believe our next step should be a mapping expedition of Omicron Iota. While we are staunch enemies of the Order the main threat is that of the Nomads. Looking at the last war with these vile creatures we need to understand them better, so as to be better equipped to deal with them. Not to mention that their technology is a step above what we currently have. The Order just wants to eradicate the threat. I think study will help us better. Delving deeper into their systems will allow us to understand their true capabilities. For this type of deep mapping I recommend a Gun ship sized vessel or better. An Arrow light fighter may be able to pull it off, but some of those Nomads do mount cruise disrupters and what ever vessel we take has to be able to withstand a pounding.

Once Iota is mapped we can then send in force groups to gather specimens and intel. Taking down a few of their capital sized ships will allow us to gain more understanding of their larger weapon systems. Once we understand more of what Iota holds we can then move further into the systems held by the Nomads.

The Unknown jump hole in Omicron Delta will also have to be looked at. What ever system lies on the other side is defiantly control by the Nomads since I personally witnessed groups of their fighters and gunboats coming through there. Again map the system then collect specimens.

Another place we may want to looks is the relationship between the Nomads and the Outcasts. Some of these folks revere the Nomads as gods and that can not be good. More intelligence on the Outcasts and their systems could be useful if they become fully subverted by the aliens. With that in mind a gathering mission on Omicron Beta and Sigma-59 may be in order.

Once we have more information on the above situations we can then re-evaluate and move forward from there. Who knows we may even be able to come to an agreement with those silly Order folks to let us be, with an exchange of intelligence. Doubt it, but one can dream.

Sincerely

Special Agent Brent Mako
Chief Information and Intelligence Officer

PS: OK I have since found out that Feuerhunde is a GS. Will commission one at once. Will call her S/D-Stheno. I will be keeping my Manta for house traveling.

Gentlemen,

Yesterdays activities mainly involved dog fighting training with Alpha in manchester and leeds.

during our training BAF requested aid with corsairs in Cambridge, we broke off the training and set a vector to assist.

when we arrived in cambridge we searched for about 10 minutes, while trying to get the BAF to give us a location. it was a disaster of communication work on the channel, too busy broadcasting dirt to corsairs and hackers.

the decision was made to go to Omega-5 to check out a corsair gunboat which was there, when we jumped we came out right on the gunboats nose. we quickly set to engage, alpha got a few shots at the gunboat with his torpedos while i fires pritty much uneffectively at their shields. a few minutes in i made a fatel pilot error and the turrets of the gunboat got me. i bailed out of that fireball and my escape pod set a course for Cambridge. I am not sure what the outcome of the fight was.

I arrived in cambridge after a few hours on convential thrusters. This time gave me a great chance to think about my options, and i have decied to upgrade to a Bomber from a Manta. I will use my old ID from before joining S/D, you will now see me as S\D-Thalan.

My equipment is not that of a heavy bomber, my armor is top notch and my guns are great, but i am putting off a SNAC until it is convienant to get one, rather than going all the way to kappa just for that. So unless the armory has a few spare i am making due with a Mini Razor i picked up from Omega-49

Regards

Sebastian.

Updates

Having re-appraised our intelligence reports, we will begin staging some forward operations in Omicron Delta. For now, we can acquire fuel and supplies through the Freeport located there. Agents are advised to avoid exchanging gunfire with anyone near the station. Actually, best avoid running into anyone you don't make sure you kill afterwards.

A new hunter joins the ranks. Samuel Phoenix. He has an admirable talent for assassination. Some of you might learn from him.

Especially those of you who have been running escort missions. I've had complaints from several captains of trade vessels who are appalled at the standard of service we provide.

Marketing our brand takes a lot of time, and the last thing I want is for a numbskull who couldn't dodge a missile fired by a blind pensioner earning us a reputation as eye-candy.

Escort means just that. Make sure your client gets to his or her destination. You meet a criminal gang intent on shooting you up or ripping you off, hit your thrusters, run interference, do anything it takes. Just make sure the client is safe and you live to tell the tale.

Agent Page, the Thalan will need a complete re-fit. Report to the workshop on Sheffield. I recommend a few sessions in the Sheffield Firing Range. The new Gunboat Assault 101 training programme is worth trying.

Special Agent Mako. Proceed as you see fit. Bear in mind, however, that the Order is a terrorist group possibly contaminated by alien infestations, and they will, most likely, use you for some vile vivisection experiment involving cold and unlubricated probe devices if they catch you. For your intel gathering missions, ensure you mount the new version Discovery scanner. It has extended scanning capabilities. Operate above the plane - 15 to 20k if you can.

We are mounting an auto-destruct to your ship should the need arise to ensure that it doesn't fall into the wrong hands. The activation codes are in your file. The new model of escape pod we're supplying you with is fitted with transmitters that can reach HQ in 56, so if you do get in trouble we'll find you.

Work on a cloaking device for your ship is ongoing. The prototype is a little tricky. We "cloaked" a lab-worker so well last night that he appears to have vanished completely, leaving only a powdery, white substance behind. One of the techs commented that it reminded him of cocaine.

It had no hallucinogenic properties when ingested.

You look a little woozy. Eat something funny? I suspect you are a little dehydrated.

Bob,

Thanks for fitting that remote-detonated explosive implant in Mako's head last night. He hasn't a clue. If he does get captured, I just hit the red button, right? Any way we can have this installed as standard on all operatives? How's the wife?

George

RE: Escort duty

I had received a communication from Jeff Phelps that Captain Kratos of the APM-Cancer was ... understandably upset ... (read VERY ticked off) ... due to the performance of some of our pilots. In order to keep our APM affiliates happy - and perhaps train some of you if you weren't hiding - I volunteered to escort Mr. Kratos on two runs today.

Boys, it's easy pocket change to pick up if you do things right...

We did a nice and easy run from New Berlin, over to Cambridge, and then back right through the Omegas. Didn't have a lick of trouble with the LWB, Hessians, or Corsairs that we ran into - he made it ahead, and I covered his flank.

In other words, I did my job, and the trader made it through safely. How about some of you learn how to do YOUR jobs? I expect to see all pilots with less than 4 months of experience with the S/D doing escort runs for the next two weeks, and I expect to see reports on those escort runs HERE in this little report folder. Am I making myself perfectly clear, ladies? (Carly, that snide comment regarding the apparent lack of manhood of some of our pilots does not refer to you - we KNOW that you lack ... well, manhood.)

Get out there and do your jobs.

Opening Transmission...

Good day,

Had a lovely tango earlier with several other agents, and got rid of a Lane Hacker Gunship in Bretonia, of which this report is not about, since someone else will be writing up the report for that.

Anyway, to the point - on my way to Bretonia from New Berlin, stumbled across a single Corsair Titan, near the Freeport. Naturally, I wasn't just about to engage, with the safety zone and all, so I taunted the Corsair into fighting me alone. Naturally, his pride got the better of him, and accepted my challenge. Moving a safe distance from the Freeport, we fought, and it ended with him running into his own mine as I CDed it.

A lovely conclusion to a somewhat interesting fight. God I just love my bomber.

Gentlemen,

Very slow start.

Spent several hours floating around bretonia space looking for opportunities and escort jobs, no bites.

when i was exploring parts of liberty i recieved a message with a Gunboat in leeds, suspected to be lane hacker. I met up with serveral S/D agents, all of whom where rallying for a move on this gunboat. in total we had 3 bombers, a very heavy fighter and a gunship. if we lost that battle something is bery wrong.

I was firstr on the scene and scouted the area, Fireball and richard followed a few minutes later, me and fireball engaged teh target at stoke, ricahrd quickly came to assist. In the end we won, see below files for confirmation.

Well it was a good day for S/D and a rather short one for this Lane Hacker Gunship. I was returning Scylla to Cambridge from the Omegas so it can be ready for PTS operation when I was informed that a Lane Hacker piloting a Hacker Gunship was in Leeds. Well the support was called in numbering us at 5; 1 GS, 1 Manta, 3 bombers. The group consisted of myself, Cestus, Richard Vettel, Fireball and Thalon all coming in from different areas of Sirius.
As we neared Leeds we came in from seperate JHs and JGs, effectively locking him in Leeds. He had nowhere to run. The idea here was to allow our bombers some target practice against a smaller more manoevrable capital class ship and they got it. Thalon was first to find him at Stokes and was joined by Fireball and Richard. Our intent was clear and IND was declared as the contract holders. The three were fine enought to keep this Gaius from getting away and he was quuckly destroyed. Cestus and myself stayed far back, I stayed near Leeds ready to intercept if necessary. The final blow goes to Thalon.
Here are my recordings of the comms and Richard supplied some shots of the target up close and his cargo.

I am always pleased to see a Hacker go down and I'm sure IND will enjoy this.

Well today started great and kept looking good but came to a disastrous ending. I am currently on California Minor getting tended for minor injuries, it was a rough ejection. So I'll fill you in what happened eh.
I went to California with my bomber with the intention of bringing Eddie Cassidy in for justice once and for all. I had called in Fireball to assist me in this. As Fireball was making his way to Cali, I did patroled the lanes to see if he was acively pirating. Instead at Mojave I came across a smuggler named Dash (can't remember the rest) in a gunboat holding 23 of our pilots. Of course I ordered him to halt and hand over the pilots but he chose to take off. I chased him around California until we got to Cali Minor where I once again ordered the release of our pilots. He declined, with the help of an Eagle named Vlad we began our assault. Part way into the battle Vlad was destroyed and I was left to face Dash alone.....so we thought.
Suddenly a "spectre" of the very same Eagle named Vlad undocked from Cali Minor and came back in. Well both myself and Dash were so shocked at the sight of this "ghost ship" eh, that all fire suddenly ceased. All types panic ensued and shouts of profanity issued from eye witnesses nearby. Both of us wanted to get this encounter over fast eh, so he dropped the pilots and left while I docked on Cali Minor
On Cali Minor I got my ship repaired and reloaded. At this time Fireball had arrived and was nearby with Eddie Cassidy and an Outcast also nearby. I undocked to look at my chosen prey.

Eddie's ID
After stating our intent and rebuffing his warning that he was a very capable pilot we proceeded to try and take him down. Well all the reports I heard were true. He's a very good pilot. We were getting close at one point, however, but he was very good. Not all of my SNAC shots were landing. Ultimately I lost my bomber to the Outcast who was on my tail in that battle.

Well apparently they had a Gun ship sitting in a spare bay at Rostock. She was brand new. Not sure how it got to Rostock but heck there was even still plastic on the seats. I recruited a crew from the bar, seems they were left here when their last captain went on a bender, took his gunship and decided to attack Crete single handed. That was over a month ago, so they had pretty well dank up all their savings. Hope you do not mind I grabbed a Guard level security sergeant to help keep them in line. Once the knock out drops wear off we should be long gone out of station

Had the dock crews working for the last few days getting her weapons mounted and stocked for long term mission. Hope you do not mind, Sir, but it seems a case of scotch that I noticed was in your office was requisitioned for medicinal purposes. Once she was all loaded up and tested we left. The S/D-Stheno made her maiden flight

We got as far as Sigma-17 before we ran head on into Corsair patrols. Since this is to be a covert op I avoided the patrol and tried to circle around but they were sitting on top of the jump hole into Theta. I also received some reading from probes I left behind after my last trip and they showed a strong Corsair presence in Theta also. So I set down on the pads at Kurile. I currently have the guard sergeant explaining thing to the crew on how things work. They came around about the time we were in Munich system. Thankfully once they get their lessons I can show them the items I requisitioned from the bar. That should calm them down a bit and take the edge off the pain. That sergeant has got very large hands and knuckles.

Anyhow got some covert probes around the jump hole to Theta. Will monitor those and keep an eye out for a window of opportunity to slip through to Freeport 11. Plan on checking out the Unknown jump hole first. Will send reports as I get data.

Brent Mako out
