These sounds keep coming out of my speakers randomly. It also happens to come out of my headphones when i am using them instead of speakers... because it is coming out of both speakers and headphones... i have ruled out a signal interference. I have run multiple virus scans, and nothing is detected. I know this is a really bad description... but they sound like the kind of sound you would expect a powerup in a video game to make. This happens totally randomly.. sometimes when i am listening to music, sometimes when im not using my computer at all. I recently installed winamp and a few extras for skype, but it still makes these sounds even when these programs are turned off. Does anyone know what these sounds might be? And if so, how do i stop them?

Its probably different frequency's from your CPU being crossed over somehow because it is under load.

It happens to me sometimes. When I open a video, music or FarCry or something. High pitch frequencies come though because I'm putting the CPU under heavy load.:)

I dont think it is that... because from what i have heard from listening to it... is that it is some sort of sound file that is activating for some reason or another.... i just want to know what this sound file is... and why it keeps playing at random moments

You could run the Task Manager and check " Applications" and "Processes" to see if something is running that shouldn't be.

way back in the past i had similar problems with my mouse...it gave some interferences to my sound card and that produce some weird random noises. Note it was old mouse (ball mouse - mouse with balls...heheh) and was old sound card...

as for u thinking its a sound file....then this advice is correct..check your active process list when it plays and kill anything that is unusual there. If sound stops u will knew that u killed right process...but i dont need to explain that...

I get random noises on my PC too, but I think it's just Xfire announcing its presence.

Some -really- weird ones though...

you have any cell phones in the same room? I get a very distinct noise pattern from my speakers every time my cell phone does an auto update with the provider.

Yea my phones mess around with the speakers aswell. Is useful sometimes as they herald an incoming text.
Interstingly Telecom makes a kindof quiet set of psst noises while Vodafone go beebbebeep beebbebeep beepbebeep! getting louder each time.
