No they are not Rhienland Military Indies, they are Rhienland Military CAPITOL Indies. They answer to no one, and everything seems to annoy them.

Remember the RNC Donau from singleplayer?

What the term stands for is actually "Rheinland Naval Cruiser", even though it now gets applied to every type of capital ship instead of just cruisers. It's annoying seeing RNC tagged battleships (even the NPC's use that tag).

What they should be using is RMS, rheinland military ship.

The official faction here on the server is the RM and so the logical conclusion would be RMC.
Even in the faction list it is named Rheinland Military Guard (others is Rheinwehr)

I talked to one [RM] ingame about that (no names) and he admitted that RMC is a more logical conclusion.
But also that best naming convention would be RWK...

What is shown at the NPC patrols belongs to the language your game is running on
English = RNC
German = RKW
for example....

But you are right at one point, Iam also voting that RMS would be the best naming convention for Rheinland capitol ships.
