As long as there has been time... there have been those who stand as gods among men...
The pilgrimage to Sirius did not leave this behind, in fact as the houses grew, each spawned its own legends and top pilots. However, long before the war spawned by the nomads arrived and much history was confused, lost, or rewritten, there is a legend that reaches back towards the beginning of our history here.
Long ago, before the first bomber was built in Rheinland, the houses of Sirius could ill-afford anything but fighters. Fighter jockeys ruled the skies... and the best of them ruled entire systems. Liberty, Bretonia, Kusari, Rheinland... all had their own aces, but one man-origins unknown-would best them all. The descriptions of this legend vary, however one specific does not, for reasons unknown this man carried with him two headbands, both written upon in ancient language said to originate from a universe lost. He wandered, challenging the best pilots he could find, and never losing once. In his travels, he had a son, to whom he left the "second" headband, telling him to come and find him when he was able to...
The father continued his quest for legend, defeating many aces, destroying many families. His quest for glory and immortality became legend amongst Sirius, he was feared, he could not be stopped. Even when he would be spotted on land, he was impossible to apprehend. Many men were sent in search of him, bounties grew exorbitant, and more so when the bounties piled up-uncollected. It seemed this man would live in eternity as the greatest pilot to ever grace Sirius...
Then one fateful day, the son returned. Finding the father in space near what is now known as Bering, the son confronted the father, headband proudly showing across his face. The mother had died almost immediately after the father had left, and the son had been left to struggle through life. Growing older only by stealing food and eventually a ship, the son's eyes and complexion burned with hatred. His father's quest for immortal status had jeopardized all those who cared for him... the son's long pent-up anger exploded and he pushed his fighter forward, challenging his immortal father in the most dangerous of games.
It cannot be said how it happened, perhaps the son was truly remarkable, perhaps the father was caught off guard. Or, perhaps as it is said, the burden of endless death that the #1 was fated to suffer finally took its mortal toll. Only the son left the scene, the father and his ship gone, however the headband was remarkably intact... the son-it is said-took this headband to replace his own, and left the second with the most competent pilot he shortly came across. However he found, blood followed him everywhere, and death pervaded his life, becoming a constant. The curse of the headband did him in, as it would so many others.
And now to this day, it is said, the legendary headbands still exist among us. Somewhere, great pilots battle for immortality... true man, true warriors, require a final existence, and it is said that within the rite of the headbands there is such finality. The one who holds the #1 headband is respected, feared, and of greatest legend. And perhaps most fitting, immortal, as he can only rightfully be challenged by the one who holds in his possession, the #2 headband. However there is constant struggle, as any and many can challenge this man for possession of the #2 headband. However, the promise of the #1 headband still entices many pilots to traverse Sirius searching for the whereabouts of these great headbands...
OOC: Information
So basically, this is a way for pilots here on disco to do their thing, and have this "legendary" competition that can be ongoing. I will post this in the Events Section, and that is where all of the information pertaining to this "storyline" will take place. Here is the way it is structured.
-Firstly, this is an old, warrior honor code type thing. It is completely about immortal status and such, the accomplishments of a true master pilot. It is limited to participation by Fighters and Bombers
-In order to claim either of the headbands, a screenshot must be posted on the thread (in the RP Section, not this intro thread). Anyone can take the #2 Headband, only the #2 can claim the #1 Headband. Once you hold the title, you must change your name to have [#1] or [#2] at the end of your name. This is how the pilots will be recognized as #2 or #1.
-There is a slight hitch with when someone loses the #1 to the #2, who gets the #2? Technically the loser of the #1 is "dead". In reality what we will do is give the #2 spot to the former #1, and ask that he challenge a slew of other pilots before again challenging the #1
-ANYONE can go for this #2 headband (in a VHF, LF, HF, or Bomber), in fact you can team up if you want (have fun splitting the headband, I'm guessing it'll be a giant battle till there's only one guy left), or heck, someone who wants the #2 can certainly place a bounty and have someone "get it for them". If you do any of this and become the owner of the #2, we'll need a SS of him killing the #2 and he'll have to post here to "give" you the headband.
-The #1 continues to do his/her normal thing, its a title, only challengable by the the #2, but it doesn't mean you can't go do normal stuff. In fact, both the #1 and #2 are still doing whatever they do (they could be an LN pilot for example, who does his normal thing but has this on the side)
-There is no requirement as far as activity, however this is here for fun and to make it interesting. Please don't get the #2 or #1 and then purposely avoid using the character, we all want a crack at the headbands!
-Combat is nothing held back, bots/bats/any underhanded crap is acceptable
-To avoid rule breaking (a freelancer #2 attacking a LN who is #1) there is conduct. When a #2 or #1 is to be attacked for his headband, ample warning must be given. Ample warning is saying something like "I've come for the #2 Headband", and then waiting a few seconds to do some RP before ya open up on him. No sneak attack crap alrighty folks? That way we can avoid sanctions for "illegal confrontation" as all these will be basically agreed upon duels/fights.
-Lastly, be reasonable. Obviously as the #2 or #1, you're supposed to be a proud, top pilot. Don't go running away all the time or speed docking to save your skin, if we run into problems with this, we'll find a way to deal with it, but I'm guessing most of the pilots who are involved with this have a "pilot's honor code".
-Once you are the #1 or #2, (try to immediately) post that information, and include the name of your character that is now the #1 or #2. And s a side edit, this was mentioned to me, we are going to give the #2 the option of not having the tag on the ship (a giant bullseye). However if you chose to do this you must state you are doing this in the thread when you state that you are the #2, so people who are following this know who to go for. Just say "xxxxx is the #2 and he will not be having the tag on the end"

In a freeport, sitting at a bar, you're enjoying a beverage after a long day's work. You overhear some people across the room talking and arguing:
"Make no mistake, that's him, that's Number 2."
"The.. number 2 pilot in the world? The one that shot down all of the Bounty Hunters in Omicron Theta?"
"He's cold blooded!"
"I'd think twice before fighting that guy.."
"What a bunch of sissies! Screw that cowards, just watch as I take the Number 2 headband."
"That's a load of bollocks! You just watch, I'm going to take him out!"
"It's gonna be me!"
"No, he's all mine!"
"Nah I'm going to be the Number 2."
"All of y'all shut up. While you talk and talk and talk, -I'm- going to blow his ship into pieces!"
Hearing all this, confused, you ask the bartender.
"Ma'am?"
"Yes?" she replies.
"Why are these people after this 'Number 2'?"
"You don't know? You really must be from outta town. We got ourselves a legend around here."
"A legend?" you ask.
"Look, 2 headbands, Number 1 and Number 2. If you have the Number 1, you're like a god. Nobody can touch you. Except the one who wears the Number 2. The trouble with that is..."
You understand, and finish her sentence for her. "The trouble with that is anyone can challenge the Number 2..."
"Clever boy.. You interested?"
"I'll have to see. I'll just have to see..." With that you pay your tab, and leave the bar

My mistake, its meant to exclude caps, not LF's and HF's. That is now edited. General Discussion here is the place to express interest. Mule's link is where claims are to be made, and the current #1 and #2 are listed

This isn't a child's game, there are almost no rules, and flying a race DEFINITELY doesn't suffice:P
So far:
Halberd of Death (#2) challenges Anothy Ryans (#1) and fails.
[Merc]Twilight picks up the #2 headband.
The Hogosha Ayumi puts out a bounty for Twilights death, and LH Phate tracks, kills, and delivers the headband to Ayumi.
HF Raving Rabbit challenges Ayumi (#2) for the #2 headband, but fails.
Just a thought, what happens if both fighters kill each other, like with explosives (happens often enough with vanilla ships). Let's say both #1 and #2 die at the same time, what then?
