If i want to fly a whale into dangerous systems, i need a better armored hull.
So a fighter is a very small ship, mounting a fighter upgrade on a whale is strange, because it cannot fit, because of the very different ship size.
Cap ammo is also rediculous; too big.

So: Whats about freighter/transport armor upgrade like the fighter ones, but larger in cargo.

Example: Freighter/Transport upgrade x2,5 takes around 100 cargo.

The armor upgrade doesn't seem like just welding more armor on, otherwise there would be a fixed number that the armor would increase by (+10,000), rather than armor multiplying. (1.5x, 2.25x, ect.) Personally I think it's like stripping away steel and putting in titanium. I think fighter armor is fine, because it's lighter armor designed to take up less space, but more pricey because you're using lightweight alloys rather than 300 cargo dense armor. It's a matter of personal choice.

I agree there should be transport class armor upgrades. ranging from 40 mil for smaller transports to say 4-500 mil but can only be mounted on transports them selves. Until then the generic is eather armor upgrade vIII or cap VIII but the cap armor reduces cargo space.

First: You've got a picture in there that's 800x286 pixels. The maximum signature size is 700x250.
Second: Your other picture in the rotation fills the full 700x250 boundaries by itself.
With an image that big, you can't fit any text below it. Please fix this.

it would be good for rp to have freighters have armor just for themselves, but it would just be adding more stuff to the game.

i mean. pirating for someone who is not flying a loaded bomber is already pretty hard if you dont have amazingly awsome skills. which i do when i choose to. but not everyone is so lucky.

i think that it would be kindof pointless to add a new kind of armor.

so no.

Wow, you're on a grave digging rampage... I think it might have been less likely for anything to happen if you hadnt dug it up again (probably not much though. Really doubt anything is gonna happen, use cap armor, better yet, rename cap armor since it is used for much more than just caps.

This isn't much of a grave dig, since it's only a couple of weeks old.

Heck, there are times when it might take me a month or more to find something in the forums since I don't have time to peruse everything all the time.

Anyway - if you're taking a whale into a dangerous system - your best armor is to hire escorts. No one in their right mind would take something that doesn't have at least 5 or more guns into someplace teeming with radiation and/or pirates without a decent escort. You'd be looking to find your self as the main menu item on Toledo station or the next experimental subject out at Malta if you did so.

TRY to consider your RP as if you really were the pilot and/or crew of your ship. There's a reason why I almost entirely stick to trade lanes with my trader...

I would say a nay to this. Reason is you can choose between lightweight and heavy now and those are 2 good choices to make. Maybe if you could not fit the other AU's on a transport i might say yes. However i think transports are already too strong. So anything that gives them more armour = no from me.

I am a transport pilot by the way. Not a pirate.

One thing to note:

Transports are in fact capital-sized ships. In 4.84 some have more armor than gunboats.

Transports can be as large as cruisers which are capital ships. And the Heavy tanker and mining ship have more armor than any gunboat, adv. train is tied.
