There's been a huge rush, understandably enough, to create Gallic characters and set up Gallic ships. Part of this rush has been players positioning themselves to represent key Gallic factions, even though that is not supposed to happen until 4.86. Part of that is the behavior by some of portraying themselves in leadership positions, particularly the Council. Whether it's cruisers in Orkney demanding attention, or players on the forums acting as Council leadership, it seems to me that this is all too much, too fast.

There are a number of folks who would like to participate in Council activity who aren't able to at this point; they might have significant time constraints, and not even exlpored Gallia yet. But they've had their eye on it for a while, and would like to join in. Yet, they're being trampled on or stepped over in the mad rush of other players jockeying for top spots. I think that's just poor form, folks.

I mean, good grief, to my knowledge, we haven't even RP'd the discovery of Gallia yet. The version came online Sunday, and immediately we have working agreements between houses. No "What? There's another house? There are more survivors? Wait, they want to conquer us but there's an entity standing in the way of that?" Nothing. We have been oorp as a body, I think, in skipping over all that and automatically assuming a lot of prior knowledge. The entire landscape of Sirius has changed literally overnight, and it's as though we skipped over entirely the whole "first contact" phase.

Can we just back off a little, please?

Edit: Oh, and this is a side effect of what I'm talking about: http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...=33541&st=0

Well, having a GRN character set up (though nowhere in a leadership position; just a plain gunboat captain of not entirely solid reputation), I can't say I'm completely unbiased, but yes, from my point of view...

Rush into Gallia all you like, RP, have fun, etc. However, some first contactness would be nice. As said in Trevelyan's post...wait, why do I bother?

/signed on the major points:P

I as of now, will not obey ANY Gallic player character, or player control faction.

Right now, any Tom, Dick and Harry can pretend to be these guys. We still know VERY LITTLE about the Gallian's. As stated above, back off, cool off.

Any French made ship trying to boss my recon ship to eventually make a pass near Orkney, nay even a Bretonian military in there will just see me turn the other cheek.

I will not engage in RP with Council or other Gallic factions. Yet.

Its just too soon folks. THIS IS A BETA for Pete's sake.

I fully agree, it's still in beta for the love of God.

I know it is a great, shiny new interesting thing, this new house, but cant you just be civil about it, and maybe do it properly? Unless of course we motion that all player-based RP for Galia is erased when 4.85 final is released.

There was a group of us who wanted to play as the council.
There was another group of people who wanted to play as the council.

Instead of anihilating each other or whining, we joined together and formed two parts of the overall Council.

The Northern and Southern Council are only part of the overall council but we are the largest player Council group in the systems of Gallia that we can access.

People can still play as any other part of the Council and we would welcome it as long as they do not interfere with us in a negative way.

You may say we are jumping the gun but we haven't done anything other than what you are stating people want to do, roleplay in Gallia.
We aren't trampling on anyone and have no intention of doing so and people are very welcome to play their way.

I honestly can't see why a group of 17 individuals who want to roleplay as part of the Council in Gallia are to blame for trampling new individuals in the region when we do nothing but help others along.

In relation to the issue of the Northern and Southern Council dealing with the BAF. The BAF came to us, not us to them.

We have not demanded anything from anyone except in the boundaries of the ID, which is perfectly normal for any npc faction.

You say it is a Beta.
Why shall we not test the roleplay too?

I have no problem with this - by all means, explore, set up chars and ships, whatever. But some have presented themselves as Council leadership or have been demanding that other factions deal with them as though they represented the Council policymakers. I think that's just a tad premature.

Step back and see who all wants to be involved; then make some decisions together.

that was expected... I think thats question of maybe weak or two till all those ppl start to be bored and come back

(for example I didnt saw single RHA member except Blodo from 85 release, I think its because Libertians do nothing in their war, sairs are gone too probably in galia and RMs, well we dont want own them whole time... so there is nothing to do for them so they are all gone too)

I believe this was a reaction to the BAF's policy making in Orkney. Someone had to advocate the rights of The Council, are we not allowed to? If no player can represent the council in terms of poicy I think no players should be able to make policies that affect the council, no matter their faction.

On a side-note (Yes Fletcher, I just had to)

Quote:I will not engage in RP with Council or other Gallic factions

That, mate, is something I'd be against too though. Yes, expect some unreasonable players, but most of us are trying to get by with what information on Gallia is known too, myself included.

Speaking purely RP-wise, give us a chance too will ya:P

EDIT: Note that with this I do not mean "Let everyone play almighty admiral", mind you. All I mean is give those of us with Gallic characters a chance for RP too:P
