I have a Gallic Navy char setup. People from Sirius factions travelling through have asked me,
"Can I do ....",
or
"What are your policies on ...".
I try to be so very genaric, as their is no official faction to draw policies from. I say things like "The king is on vacation, and left orders not to bother the "outsiders" as strange as that sounds", or "I have had a system failure and fail to retrieve the information requested".
I have only asked people to stop killing npc navy. But now with no missions I turn my eyes to that too. I log on to this char now only to rp with council as their is little else to do at the moment. So I think the rush will die off as others realize this too.
Now what about some of us running unoficial factions, setting up a bit of RP to allow us access to Galla. Meaning OSI wants to exspand into Galla for their trade runs. I am currently working on some forum RP about how Samuel stumbles into Galla. I just wanted an RP reason for running trade routs there from FP9 and 11. Is everyone ok with this?

The Gallia Lawfuls (Royal Navy, Police, Etc.) are, from what I can tell, supposed to be openly hostile to -all- sirius factions who are intruding into gallic space. The agenda of the gallic king is pure aggression towards the other houses, as he wants to overthrow the rest of Sirius.
So, IMO, that means gallia is at war with the other houses right now, and the only thing standing in the way is the council. Any non-gallic traders inside gallia can be forced out of gallic space by the GRN, and any non-junker outsiders can probably be shot on sight.
I do not hassle traders ever...The most I've done is asked a smuggler to "de-activate his weaponry' while in "the kings homeland". or "the king is allowing trade to and from Sirius he is evaluating it potetial"
Now I may get some heat for this but...
I felt like it was a little soon for my RepEx char to be not allowed access to new Gallia routes to evaluate their potential. So I think everyone needs to lay off the "hardcore" rp till the final version is out. RepEx|050 would love to find new profits but remains red tapped in sirius.
Edit: Tenacity...I think I should be able to do that too but don't want to step on toes of those just "exploring" with no real reason to be there. It is just a beta after all
I don't agree durandal. That's pretty OoRP, and anyway, whats the point of discovering the routes if you'll just get blasted when gallia's sorted itself out anyway?
tbh I think a lot of the tensions are that people have made gallic characters without reading a single thing about gallia.
as for exploring, either single player (which is admittedly way too boring a way to do it) or just take a freelancer or someone like that. Maybe still oorp, but much less so.
Sorry to revert back to before any input was given, but i'd like to comment on a bit the original thought presented in this thread.

I mean, good grief, to my knowledge, we haven't even RP'd the discovery of Gallia yet. The version came online Sunday, and immediately we have working agreements between houses. No "What? There's another house? There are more survivors? Wait, they want to conquer us but there's an entity standing in the way of that?" Nothing. We have been oorp as a body, I think, in skipping over all that and automatically assuming a lot of prior knowledge. The entire landscape of Sirius has changed literally overnight, and it's as though we skipped over entirely the whole "first contact" phase.
I agree with this entirely.
Rushing in, trying to stick your foot on one of the positions of power before anyone else, and appointing yourself as leadership is ridiculous and rude. Even if you say you'll allow anyone to come in and make factions and characters beside you, it's difficult for others to do so. Say there are two separate player factions for a single NPC faction, and they each have policies or laws. Now, say some of those were to conflict in a serious way, who would you listen to? Does one player faction have the right to overrule the policies of the other, is it fair to the other faction to be under the same NPC tag with an entirely different interpretation of the faction's role?
Yes, they could merge and combine their ideas into a single, hopefully better, entity.
Would this happen? I'd like to think so, but probably not. Each would have arguments as to why their faction roleplay fit the NPC faction better, and why the other faction was in error. The players who couldn't be there to join in with the initial position grab would feel left out. Those who rushed in and grabbed up positions as fast as they could would feel like they were being shoved out of place.
Do we really want a "I was here first!" epidemic?
Correct me if i'm mistaken, but it is my understanding that, relative to the other houses, very little is known about Gallia. That leaves it open for people to step in and define it, give it some history, some goals, maybe a few flaws. Which would be great, but not if good opinions and voices are pushed aside unknowingly because they didn't go make an important Gallic character within the first day of 4.85 being out.
Honestly, if i had it my way, i would make all the Gallic bases undockable to all except official testers until the release of the final 4.85 version. Seeing as that's not the case, it's up to the community to restrain themselves and, as Trevelyan said, back off a little.

Agreed, though you can't simply say "Anyone rushing to gallia hasnt read anything about gallia"
So its basically a blame game made of assumptions.

So far, the only other Council Faction group iv run into has been those that are now the Southern Council.
No policies with them have conflicted with ours in the Northern Council, as everything has been discussed and agreed upon as a collective Council. Should a third or even a fourth council faction appear, they will welcomed the same way and invited as yet another section to the council as a collective group.
In no way has their been any "This is what I say, This is how it will be done" statements.

Same thing i said above regarding all decisions being agreed upon by not just 1 person, or 1 group, but all council members. That merge idea is basically what happened between the CS and CN, while still keeping both groups separate. The only way for a player to feel left out, is if they didnt include themselves. Xoria made a thread for GRN GRP and Council players to post in, they should use it i think.

Personally, im open to suggestions, ideas, improvements, anything of the sort. As a counter-arguement however, what good is coming up with a history, if people shootdown the thought of that history being decribed to those outside Gallia? That is also one of the things that happened during the Reunion Treaty, though only a very small portion.

This goes back to my statement saying:
If admins didnt want RP to happen in 4.85 Beta. They should have put a huge sign on it saying "DO NOT ROLEPLAY". And if only the official testers could do anything within Gallia.. Why not keep it a Private Beta?
What? The new version is out four bloody days and you are arguing over it? Looking for admin decisions on factions and their powers?
Holy moly.
A new House composed of arrogant, self-important egotists who have an inflated sense of their importance. Hmmm, reminds me of a country in the real world...
Honestly guys. Let people discover. You may yet rue setting yourself up as the heads of a place which may turn out to be "Manchester, Part 2"
If you are going to start developing the RP for these new systems and debate it, then you could RP argue it. Be Gallic. Snort derisively. Guffaw at inferior civilisations. Enjoy wine and cheese.
Sorry, Frog and Seb, for my crude stereotypes of your wonderful country. I shall resume my potato-eating forthwith.
