About the so-called "point defence" (secondaries);
Against fighters, its meant to act as supression fire. This means that it keeps the fighters and bombers that are targetted on their toes, without doing much damage to them unless they make a mistake. You are meant to have escorts to do the real damage to the small guys. If battleships were to effectively counter fighters and bombers, then everyone would have a capital ship.
About the missiles;
They are meant to target cruisers and battleships. Maybe they should be renamed to "ballistic missiles", because that's what they really are now. They may seem inefficient for the damage they do, and are fairly easy to shoot down for an enemy fighter paying attention. However, they are meant to disarm enemy capital ships (cruisers, battlecruisers and battleships). They are also very useful for blowing off the turrets on docking rings (or so I saw during the closed beta anyway).
About the flak;
These are meant only to act as a deterrant to fighters and bombers when they get in close. Its very hard to make flaks "better" without making them stupidly good as they were in 4.83. Those with a longer memory of 4.83 will know that cruiser flaks on a Kusari destroyer raped fighters SO hard, it wasn't even funny. Me, 5 seconds, boom. Hilarious, I know, but its not good to return to that.
Get a grip people, and relearn how to use your weapons, and what roles they now fill. Things change; I learnt that a long time ago. You should too.
yea, if you want missions that take "teamwork" (meaning, an entire freaking fleet, ranging from fighters to battleships), they need to at least reward enough money to make them worthwhile.
A 400k, or even a 1 million credit mission, divided by the 4-5 players it takes to complete the mission, isnt even going to pay the repair bills.
NPC's are not meant to be equal to players, ever. That's why the spawn in groups of 4+. If NPC's spawn in a group of 4, they each need to be roughly 25% as strong as an equivalent player. That means 4 NPC fighters need to be balanced against ONE player fighter. 4 NPC destroyers need to be equivalent to 1 player cruiser. There's no other way to balance it which will make things relatively fair here.

When people talk of 'escorts' they don't mean hired escorts. They mean fighters who fly with them.
Nomad NPC are being looked at again. Stop complaining about them, enough people've done it, the devs listened. Wait for results.
If your battleship guns can't hit a fighter, -chances are- that they can't hit you either. If a bomber SNs from that far away, dodge. Where's the problem?

Learn to aim? Today I took out the Osiris, and started planning a training match, 3 bombers vs 1 osiris + 2 vhf escorts.
It quickly fell apart, and everyone took bombers and joined forces against the osiris. Was probably 8 bombers. Primary raped 1 bomber (almost a half second worth of burst rips a bomber apart) and Battle Razored 3 bombers. Eventually went down to the sheer SN spam, but you certainly can't say battleships are utter crap.

Do the simple math. we can have 200 (actually only 198, but we'll round up here) players on the server at a time. How many factions exist in this game? Roughly 5 factions per house, 10 or so non house factions... that's 35 factions that players will be flying in, probably closer to 50 in reality. Let's say even 20 of those are military factions which are constantly surrounded by enemies, whether they be NPC's or players.
200 players / 35 factions = 5.7 players per faction on at any one time. Anyone who has played here and kept their bloody eyes open for more than five minutes will realize that not all factions are equal. In the order, we have, if we're lucky, two players on at any one time - when planned events are being done we might have 5-10 if they can get past the swarm of idiots taking up the other 190 server slots.
For the past six months or so, during 4.84, whenever I was logged onto my order character, around 20-30% of the time there would be one other order player online. 10% of the time there would be two or more others, the rest of the time I was alone.
Escorts are not an option for 90% of the people playing here, quit acting smug and realize that fact.
I never bought this 'Anti-cap missile' crap on the dev forums when it was being put out and I never will. Why?
ONE Heavy mortar round dropped a class ten cap shield today. One. I got a second shot off...it should be four, but felt like three, seconds later.

The Battle Razor is a nice idea, but the problem is power consumption. The refire is so low that it doesn't matter what kind of energy it consumes, you're only going to get one shot every X number of seconds, so shouldn't you have your power core for other guns, like that wonderful razor?
Escorts blow. Not everybody can get three or four escorts; most of us don't have that luxury. If you want to play that way, restrict caps to factions, so that indies don't have to form groups big enough to be factions to get the fighter screen to protect a Battleship.
