If the function was free, or allowed large amounts of derep, someone could easily bribe, lower rep, bribe 4 times, within a matter of a minute, and get a full guard tag, without doing a single mission.
Do we really want to see guard tags -everywhere-? Then what's the point?
The cost vs derep-amount has to be such that it's an affordable way of adjusting your rep after you've done missions, but at the same time, too expensive for someone to get rep with that alone.
Cannon's agreed to only make this flhook function if the -0.1/5mill restrictions were put in.
If someone has full guard rep, full faction rep, and 4 reps above guard rep, then he can simply /lower those 4 reps, then cancel missions until he has guard tag.
Well, the problem is the rep we want to get down here is not for guard (I gave a free solution just above) but real repfixes ... 5M is what I do in about 10 with the best trade route of all sirius. I take myself as example, I got outcasts at 2 squares before neutral on one of my corsair char, that mean -0.2. What I should have is -0.9 that mean 0.7 of difference ... Make a simple calc, that's 1hour and 10 mins of trading for something I would do with 10 mins of npc killing ...

Point is: At most times, rep-setting is oorp. As i posted this thred, it was the 3rd day, trying to get off my tag. I owned a Freelancer tag, and wanted to switch to zoner guards. Nice challenge, with +190 freaks online.

Solution:
You can lower it only to +0,59. So, that you can switch a tag.
If you pick a bribe, while having +0,59, there should no big effect.

This command is a purpose for rep-fixing, that mean make RED what it should be and is not. Anything it should be hostile (red) may be neutral (white) at most but not friendly (green) ...
What I purpose is to make it usable only and only if the asked rep to reduce is neutral or hostile (value < 0.5 while a bribe gives 0.6).
The guard tag are easy to get anyway by the way I gave above and this command is not the goal we are looking for !
Fixing the price at 5M for 0.1 rep fix is simply a non-sense actually and is mostly here to make this command unused. 50M for only one faction fixed ?!? Hell do you know how expensive it is ?
I'm really for this command, but not that expensive.
This would help in lowering Order rep and whatnot on say, your Outcast after killing too many Bounty Hunter NPCs.
The guard rep thing isn't a huge deal. It's not abuse. People are going to get caps anyway. Easier or not, it will happen, and we will have lolwutters.
A way a lone a last a loved a long the riverrun, past Eve and Adam's, from swerve of shore to bend of bay,
brings us by a commodius vicus of recirculation back to Howth Castle and Environs.
Depending on your point of view, rep fixing can be fun, or a challange, for me it's both, trying to sneak into systems without being caught or spotted by hostiles, and phew that was close, got that bribe, then trying to get back out, oops that bribe messed me up with some other faction, need to fix again, into stealth mode and here we go again. see it as fun, it's been like that on the server since day one why change now because some people can't be bothered. Heck why bother trading just give us a tool for making money, or a tool to make our weapons uber weaps and so on. IMHO Let sleeping dogs lie:)
If I understand the proposal correctly, it is only to insert a command to lower reps. Therefore, the effort required to achieve full guard rep will still have to be put in.
This will not make it any easier to get hold of a guard ID...it will make it easier to get a guard tag, but, as one can mount a non-guard ID with a guard tag, one would assume the reverse were true.
As for Mule's hypothetical bribe/drop situation, it is gonna be awfully expensive and can be done presently by aborting missions in place of the rep drop command, anyway.
Running 'round to random parts of Sirius to guard tag that cap is one of the most annoying things someone can do (Tale of the Bismark?)...and, now that NPCs have gained more resistance to CDs and friendly fire, it is gonna be even harder for some characters (Hunters, enemy pirate groups, factions like Mollys) to have the correct NPCs shooting at them in a fight.
I don't agree with it because, say you wanted to be friendly with a faction, one could just lower their enemies making them friendly.
It just doesn't seem right and is a little OORP if you ask me unless there is a charge. I would slightly accept it if the fee was quite heavy like 5 mill for half a bar.
