I have been willing to work on some different sound tracks for a while. Unfortunately RL has prevented me from sparing time for it. But who knows, I might still do a surprise..
On the uncharted lagoons of anguish, I sail with a canoe made of my sins.
I think one of the issues with adding music is that they can drastically increase the file size of the download.
While usually not an issue, some may not want the new music or to waste their time on it.
Still, definately something to develop. I always have FL music turned off since I've heard it a bajillion times. (Really, a bajillion)
There's a great program called FL Studio (no not Freelancer:P, FruityLoops) that makes composing songs a breeze, as long as you know what you're doing. Basically an entire studio in your computer, even allows you to plug in boards and whatnot. PM me for more details if you're interested.
Please, don't suggest soundtracks from other games / movies, those won't be used. Copyrights and all that stuff. Even the official 4.85 trailer had to use custom music.
If you can compose a music track keeping with the general FL style and fitting the scenery - great!
But it cant be that hard to do - you could do it with garageband on a mac
That or any program for recording on PC would be able to do it, specially if its just ambient music that loops - most of that stuff that comes on those programs is royalty free i think, you should still however read the fine print.
I am a professional musician and composer with references and past recording experiences both with my band and with symphony orchestra(s). I am also game freak so I can compose soundtracks for any game(s) mod(s) etc.
