Good Afetrnoon,

I've noticed (much to my horror) the for reasons unknown to me the Discovery Server seems to crash allot. Not knowing the particulars of the server OS, RAM, connection type, etc I was wondering which of these applies:

1. Because of teh demand to play on this particular server, it is reset to allow it others to get on.

or

2. There is an issue where the system just reboots itself or the server software crashes for no reason.

If you running a Windows OS I suggest looking at the systems logs for anything that give you an indication as to what happen. Another possiblity is that you may have a corrpt RAM memory stick it which when a certain address gets accessed your discovery server resets.

Again I'm just guessing here and I sure you are working the issue. Just offering some things to check that may pinpoint your issue.

Hmm. The memory can be... Do anyone remember if the crashes began after or before we upgraded from 512 to 1024 of RAM?

Or maybe it's the mod itself... I'm sure that Igiss is working on that... If the problem is mod related..

I have mentioned in the suggestions/bugs thread that the server has been noticed to crash on some occasions when a player logs out while in space.

Possibly something related to FLHook?

Hope this is of help resolving the problem.

Edit: Has been noticed in Leeds and Cambridge systems if that is of any help.

Seems like the simplest thing to check of all the possible issues.

Disable FLHook for awhile and see if the problem clears up?

Couldn't hoit,

I though we've had FLHook up and running for a while...and running smoothly at that.

Seems to me the random crashing didn't start until we had alot of 'unknown and rather suspicious' players turn up...*thinking of that GL Coder guy* ... there's probably more of them out there too.

Maybe I'm wrong but... I agree with you, romer. I'm almost a newcomer but I had the same impression you had.

Guys, the admins are trying as hard as they can to fix the server. So don't make them tell why, just let them do it! How many of you would be willing to put that many hours into a game??? They have a hard job, so respect them for that.

I am a long-absent Supreme Commander, Executive Commander, Grand Admiral, Fleet Admiral, and Captain in the mighty Hellfire Legion. I have returned, and am on an urgent mission from Drake Thastus to return the Legion to its former glory, and to claim the galaxy for its own. Only then will I be able to rest.

Uh? Why do you say we do not respect admins? Maybe I'm wrong but here nobody is putting any blame on admins. Some people try to give advices (maybe un-necessary)... and some others put the blame on cheaters. I do not see any bad... maybe I'm too naive... let me know.

And for what regards me, I respect their work a lot. They deserve it.

I had issues running my own personal server... running Disco 4.82 and Ioncross, the whole machine would lock up when playing missions. I know some time back missions were banned because they hammered the server.... I assume the ban was lifted, but problems may be lingering.

I also posted here: http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...=2978&st=10

Flyer... chill out...noone's slaggin' off the admins. This is simply a discussion about the recent crashing issue, which affects everyone. Some people may have input that could be useful, and it would be better to not post it in the 'Server Status Thread' as that thread is not for discussion...it's simply for reporting when the server is down.

Onca, ... nvm...I see ...other thread...
