So I was thinking about the difficulties Nagano and Okinawa have brought up for Kusari RP, and an Idea just jumped into my head that might help to solve some of them.
Reverse their geographic location. Put Nagano where Okinawa is and put Okinawa where Nagano is. This would make more sense in rp for some of the following reasons.
1) Dragon research Center for studying Nomads, becomes one jump away from the nomads instead of having them two systems away and having to cross a hostile system to get there.
2) The GC battleship was crippled in Tohoku, so it would make much more sense that the Battleship was able to limp away from the battle, but it wouldnt have been able to go far. Again, one system vs two
3) Kusari territorial integrity. Right now, Nagano is under the control of the Kusari government while Okinawa is not, meaning that a Kusari player must leave Kusari and go into Okinawa to go back into Kusari and go to Nagano. Okinawa would make much more sense as a fronter, outside the Kusari house, if it were actually a frontier, not a connection between to sovereign Kusari systems.
4) GMG sovereignty of Okinawa makes much more sense if the system is not a path between two Kusari systems. It makes much more sense that Nagano was found first, but not developed by Kusari, and the GMG traveling through Nagano or the Sigmas found the jump hole to Okinawa and went and developed that system. A jump gate to the sigmas still makes sense in this layout.
5) It removes the whole Trade lanes going to Honshu issue as well.
6) It solves some of the travel problems for the GC, Dragons, Hogosha and FA, moving the GC and Dragon bases closer to other GC and Dragon bases, putting the FA base closer to other FA bases, and giving the Hogosha a close safe haven outside of Okinawa itself, which it doesnt have now. It also stops all of these factions from having to go through hostile systems to get to thier bases.
I think this is an idea worth considering, because I do feel it really fills out some of the rp logic issues that players have brought up, without altering the rp point of the system. I know that there will be people with arguments against it, but I would like this to be a civil discussion of the merits of this idea.
So, are you suggesting that a TL and JG's be built through nagano, because there is no way that the three lawful bases that are in Okinawa would exist without those in my opinion.
Only thing I can think of is that, if you simply swap the systems over, and Nagano remains as is (pretty much an FA system), GMG encounters the same problem that the others had before...even now, it's a bit of a drag to get out there, if it ends up having to traverse a hostile system as well, no one is gonna bother to go there.
Also, Kishiro would not be operating out there without some lane/gate connections...
What about swapping and then adding a jumphole from newly-located-Okinawa to Sigma-59, which is next to it on the map? Alternately, just a hole to Sigma-19 would make it easier for the GMG.
If so, that seems like it would be easier for everyone involved.
