Seriously though, I dont think such naming conventions are a great idea. Too messy, takes up too much space. If you're unsure just go out of group RP and ask in OOC, then build on that.

They're not the same. They're 'nobility buffers' as I like to call'm. You can promote a few times, but at the Sarge rank you'll be 'examined' if you're ready for knighthood. If not, you'll stay sergeant for a while untill the chain of command deems you 'worthy'. That's how we do things now anyway.

I view anything below Baron as a "soldiering" rank that can only really be given orders from the nobility (Barons and up). Knights, sergeants, men-at-arms... no one should really "pull rank" amongst them, rather work together and formulate the best course of action that way.

My best advice: Just listen to Exile.
