Alright, here it is - we all know pirates want to remain hidden while pirating passing transports (at least the pirates want that). So when they pirate - they use the "/l" chat for communicating and demanding cargo. BUT! Sometimes the trader attempts to delay the pirate, making him answer some stupid questions and negotiating for less tax. That makes the pirate forget to write "/l" and....the police in the system sees the action going on and starts looking for the pirate. They find him and arrest him.

Here is the actual request - make a command to turn on/off the "/l" chat. Doing so would help people chat faster, easier and will spare us some headache when we forget to write it eveery time we chat. Make the command something like "/lon" and "/loff". If you can, make it permanently on even if we enter a different system, until one turns it off.

Whoever thinks its useful, support me by writing in this thread. That would help make communications more realistic, when even groups use it instead of group chat, that helps demand cargo in a group faster (e.g. 3 pirates talk to a trader + their group at the same time)

This needs doing, imho. It would make things -so- much nicer. Of course, there are the folks that will forget about it being on...

I say make local the default chat, and system chat the one you have to turn on or off with commands

upgrades! i say screw turning /l on or off, make it permenatly on! aka, have it and /s change places, so if you want to yell, you have to type /s

Hell yea! I agree, let's make local the default, makes sense you can only talk to people within scanner range and flying through New York would be 10 times less annoying than it is.

-Yeah, instead of the OORP private tax demands, using this would be NICE!

-That would decrease the system-wide chat spam, people chatting near different planets will enjoy crystal-clear comms without interference!

-Chatting with the own team + the other teams, imagine: 1 bomber wing & 1 fighter wing in different groups, they can communicate using "/lon" and still have their own command centers in group chat, and people can use the NPC speeches like "taking damage", "boogie is almost cooked" in the territory of the battle, without spamming the whole system. People passing by can read these chats and join battle, just like picking up a faint signal. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!! SUPPORT ME!

That was only 1 of the 100 benefits of that feature, dude. This thread isnt about pirates or policemen. Its about making the Discovery Mod even more polished out and realistic.

Having done a bit of pirating myself, I support this feature. The pirated trader can always scream for help system wide.

Not if we make it permanently on...

Or if the pirate states an ultimatum, telling the trader "If you call the police, i shall harvest whats left of you..." just like in the films!
