Currently, I'd be quite happy if that all was to happen was that it was added to the 'No pirating in this' list ...
And removed from Yaren and put back on just The Westfalen ... Lets just keep it as a bomber, not as the
'must have because everyone else does', uber ship.

Exact.
There should be no uber stuff in the mod.
It's the skill of the pilot that should decide a battle, not the uber weps it carries..

EDIT: Or there can be uber weps... but make them cost a bit more...say, 100+ mill credits each.:)

True, but Hood, I'd push that a little further and put the bomber in the Rheinland Military Guard System.

I could go with that too, as the char with the military reason for having one, has access to that system ...
The other one now needs thinking about. Though thats the one who has had the bomber for ever, as a capship
deterrent, a genuine reason for owning one ...

Heres a question...

Why are there weapons for fighters that out do gunboat 'special' weapons?

Isn't that uber?

A gunboat is wwaaayyy bigger then a VHF or a bomber, yet a VHF or a bomber can mount, and use, weapons that are more powerful then a gunboat can.

Wheres the balance in that?

If the nova, mini-razor and inferno are all altered to have higher energy usage while doing less damage then the gunboat inferno and battle razor, it'd mean using them becomes more skill and luck then it is now.

Afterall, a VHF or bomber is about the size of a gunboats power core, so it makes sense that using a torp mounted special weapon would drain most, if not all, the power with one shot.

Then you have to dodge and wait for your power to come back up to fire it again.

Doing this won't make VHFs and bombers obsolete, you'll just have to gang up to get the best outta the torp mounted weapons, which is what fighters should be doing to fight capships anyhow.

I have said for several mod versions by now that the weapons of the next class should be more powerful than the weapons of the prior class.
For example: (Code names not included)

Fighter 2.0 refire rate weapons: 150-990 dmg per shot
Gunboat 2.0 refire rate weapon: 1000-1500 dmg per shot
Cruiser 2.0 refire rate weapon: 1600-2100 dmg per shot
Frigate 2.0 refire rate weapon: 2150-2500 dmg per shot
Destroyer 2.0 refire rate weapon: 2520-3000 dmg per shot
Battleship 2.0 refire rate weapon: 3100-4000 dmg per shot

That way, the weapons look more realistic for each category...

Obviously, projectile weapons don't count on this, as a missile/mine/flak/torpedoes is not directly related with the power core of a ship, but with the explosive ordnance they carry.
The only power used by the projectile wep is the power used by fire! signal, and the one used by the data stream that is feed to the targeting computer.

On the topic of the rheinland bomber being im the guard system, why cant it stay where it is, i mean i use one but ive rp'd as a character with one before they were the most popular thing on the server, so if there is a wipe the next time, ill be out of luck for one of my favourite ships (and the wraith).

So i suggest that a bomber for outcasts and corsairs are made, so that the hardcore pirates can get thme and those with a genuine rp reason for the rheinland bomber can still get it.

The power drain of a nova amc on a fighter is pretty drastic now, using more than three quarters of anything
available ... Meaning, fire the nova and your guns will work for about two to three seconds afterwards ...
Fire your guns first and the nova will not go off till power levels are right back up to the top.
The RH bomber can fire five shots straight off before the energy has drained ... Thats a powerplant and a half
Both the inferno and the mini-razor use about half the energy of the nova currently, though damage levels are
in keeping with this ... Not sure how to balance these, as I've said before, a black art I'm not good at.
The bomber does however take advantage of the huge power available to it currently ...
And RP wise ... Well every bugger has one, regardless of their standing it would seem.

That would make anything bigger that a cruiser obsolete.
With the Rheinland bomber as it is, every ship Gunboat size and above is obsolete.
A ship as small as a fighter, with the firepower of a cruiser?

I reckon put it on the Battlestar 2 for the admins, where it obviously belongs.;)

I've seen a single Rheinland bomber take on a gunboat, destroyer and battleship at the same time and win.

Well Ant, that would seem to indicate both good and bad piloting in equal measures there. I would baulk at
trying to take on that many at once in a single bomber, and that should be almost impossible.
I currently have two of the things in my arsenal, and until this is resolved I'm not flying either of them ...
