Nah, thats four level nine guns and two level nine turrets ... Same thing with the tizzies though, gives you
six of them ... 5 going forwards, a bit less than 4 coladas and a tizzy turret though.

Never made a ship... don't know if this can be done... what about making the bombers so they don't have (and can't equip) trusters? Or giving them a thruster with a crappy top speed like freighters have? Maybe thruster speed no better than regular max speed.

They'd still have monster attack power but their ability to dogfight would be shot. They'd also have to plan their attacks well (ie cruise in @350, slow to normal max speed to drop payload, then try to cruise out again).

It would make them worthless. The thruster is their only way to dodge. Have a bomber and BS fight. Have the bomber not use thrust. The end result will be the bomber's destruction unless the BS pilot is incompetent.

So a general concensus has been made about the RH bomber; less firepower and bots/bats. What I am wondering is if there will be more bombers, what will the other bombers be like? Are they gonna be RH bomber clones? That would be boring. Does anyone have suggestions? I haven't really flown a bomber so I can't say much on the subject.

However, an idea I do have is of a slightly faster, less manuverable, less powerfull bomber (guns wise and armor wise), that had a slightly smaller profile. This type of bomber would entail a more hit and run type of tactic, like a dive bomber. If a BS is engaged and damaged, a fast bomber attack that can then get away without really engaging any fighters, can swing the battle. Even one on one a BS would have a harder time hitting the thing, but the engagement would last longer as well, as the bomber flys back then at the BS again. This would also require the pilot to fight in a different way.

This is simply an idea for one of the new bombers that may/may not be made. Tell me what you think and any other suggestions.

That would be like a light fighter bomber.. It will only work if torpedoes are reduced in speed. Which you forgot about that. Novas need speed reduction, as right now they are too good against other fighters. The thing should be extremely difficult to hit a fighter with, not as easy as a normal laser gun.

We will likely get more bombers when/if Igiss finds more bomber models. We don't have any people here who actually develop new ships for the mod.

Oh yeah, the reduction in speed of the torps, including the AMC projectile. That probably wouldn't be that big of a deal.

On the subject of new models, I have expierience modeling and have a copy of Maya. I do not know if this is a compatable program for FL models. Does anyone know off hand? I could try my hand at it... I'm just having enough trouble finding time to play this game.

I actually have a different idea. Give the bomber less NBs and SBs but do this.

Give it 4-6 Torpedo mounts and 2-3 Class 10 gun mounts. The nova needs to be fixed, and should do alot less damage than a torp.

Keep torp speeds the same, increase the damage dealt slightly, decrease tracking ability.

Now that is an actual bomber.

Right, so whats to stop some [censored] [censored] from equipping 4 - 6 novas?

Thats 2/3 shots to drop a transport shield, 3/4 shots to kill the transport.

Then theres fighting capships...

All we need to do is drop the number of bot/batts, lower the armour slightly, slow down nova projectile speed.

Not turn bombers into over-powered monsters, they are already.

Besides, for your idea to work we'd have to remove nova AMC's totally.

After all a bomber should be using torpedoes, then again 70 -divided by- 4 to 6 launchers -equals- not alot of shots.

El Gato, the result of your suggestion:
4 - 6 Novas will definitely make it uber, as now it uses about half the energy (maybe less) to fire 2 Novas in a row (72k hull, 36k shield damage), firing 4 Novas in a row would make it devastating (144k hull, 72k shield damage), firing 6 Novas in a row would make it definitely (216k hull, 144k shield damage). If you increase the damage...

Nova speed is 500 now, tracking is non existant.

Hull armor without an upgrade of a Rheinland Battleship is 600k. If you fire 8 salvos into it, it goes boom, not extremely hard for a single bomber to do
It simply won't matter if you take off all the other guns.
