I am surprised that Artifacts have not been more incorporated into Discovery. I know from my attempts to join the Lane Hackers, that some factions actively target artifacts with the intent to destroy them, but what about those who seek them for their benefits?

Perhaps I am incorrect, and such a faction DOES exist, but it would be interesting to have a scientist faction that collected and studied artifacts in a RP way. Maybe an existing faction makes use of this idea in some way that I am not aware, I'd love to hear about it. Developing new tech from the artifacts would be interesting, though that would require the aid of Discovery modders, and new balancing.

As you may be able to tell, I am new to Discovery, and am still exploring its vastness. I have no desire to found this myself as I have not the ability to do so. Perhaps eventually. This post is intended to open the discussion, and perhaps educate myself further. Comments? Ideas? Attacks?

Thank you!

I believe this would be better suited to the Factions forum, rather than Faction Creation.

My apologies, if an administrator would be kind enough to move it, I would be obliged. Did you have any opinions or comments, however, Niezck?

I would guess that probably several of the corporations in Sirius research artifacts. Crier, Ageira, maybe some others. I dont know how heavily the player factions are involved in this though, buit it is definitely an interesting idea.

Also, the admins and mods dont read through every post seeing if it needs to be moved, you need to PM one of them.

I realized that (regarding the moving). If I was overly concerned with this, I would PM an admin. If Nieczk is overly concerned, I welcome him to do the same. If someone actively wants this moved, they are more than welcome to take an active interest in moving it.

That said, in the future, I will not place non-request related topics here. Lesson learned. If there are further problems with this, contact me privately and discuss it with me.

That out of the way, what interests me. Yes, I suppose the corporations would research artifacts. I suppose, what is left at this point, is one final question of mine: do any factions tolerate artifacts?

I was considering this thread last night, and since I am not interested in starting a faction, perhaps I could role play a freelance scientist, at some point in time, that collects artifacts for research, or whatever. It would be useful to know who my enemies would be, as well as who I could safely contact to locate these artifacts. Anyway, when and if I do decide to do this, I'll perform more research. I have enough learning on my hands as is.

Thank you for your addition tazuras.

Remember to contact the local law enforcement to apply for a license (if available, and if the researcher ID doesn't cover that)

Form a research group.

Artifacts have the potential to pretty much lead to anything.
I know I have already got a few different ideas that are easily possible within the scope of the artifacts we know of.

I'm pretty sure most all of house space is pretty uptight about artifact. Also researcher ID allows you to trade artifacts, it does not make them legal, that is up to the discretion of the law enforcement player, or their faction.

You could go freelance, although I would have a good story about how you have enough money for all the equipment you would need.

You might also consider being an independent player for an NPC faction who you think might have reason to research artifacts.
