yes yes, i know its been out for months, but i only just got it and my first thourght....OH MY GOD! the graphics on this thing is incredable, the sea battles are one of the most realistic things i have ever seen, the land battles are so much better than the old total war games, its an incredable game!
Ive got it, it is amazing, so much better than medieval 2, the graphics are astounding and the sea battles remind me of a game called "Port Royal 2" (which is as old as freelancer), epic game.
I have it too since a few days,and...whoa.
It beats the hell out of every RTS I've ever played since then
Shame that I can't even activate mid-high graphic specs. The fights are impressive already, though.
Great game.And for once,French aren't forced to surrender.That's lovely.

Indeed, and at the moment, the Swedish empire have disposed of their queen (who had a mistress, oddly enough), installed a president (who also has a mistress), taken most of Russia, and made large assaults into Poland, Lithuania, and oddly enough, Iceland. Before my computer crashed, I also had the Maratha confederacy, who completely conquered India and were sizing up the English (turning history on its head FTW), hoping to conquer them with massed ranks of elephant generals.
Love the game, although there are still some problems with the AI, like not transporting units to assault your shores (practically guaranteeing you one territory as England), and I find that having infantry and archers rolled into one unit (line infantry) is slightly annoying, especially as most groups get the same kinds of units.
I have actually been on the receiving end of an invasion by an army transported by sea. It only happened the once (so far) and the latest patch was supposed to go someway toward making the AI both more aggressive and more likely to use naval based invasion.
I'm currently playing as the Prussians (having completed the game as the Swedes prior to the last patch). Everybody seems to hate the Prussians and I'm not sure I've managed an entire turn without being at war with at least 2 other countries!
Probably the greatest game of the year for me, it has its issues for sure, but its epicness never lets you down.
Mods are small scale so far, but one makes the game much better, like adding marines, I love the one that adds real life army marching music, really adds to the feel. Freelancer has made me a RP freak. Spend most of my time fixing the world like Team America World police, even forced the American revolution, gave them territory, and they declared war on me.
combat wise its an entirely different game, and having two seperate units grouped into one (ranged+melee) actually makes it more tactical than Medieval 2. Ship combat is something special, dont like ships blowing up, but it doesnt happen often, though probably too much. I hear multiplayer is great fun, compared to the AI, but I was never much for it.
I also like the fact that Medieval two is a completely different game, so if I get bored of one, I can go to another and it wont feel the same at all. Gotta try out the LOTR mod for M2TW.
I think ive tried that one, but I mostly played SPQR.
Played all the Tw games since medieval I, never did play Shogun, I guess I missed it, but im sure it was a classic like Medieval, gotta love the Risk map style, it's probably where the game should have remained, just more risk blocks to step on, AI doesnt handle the freedom of choice of Rome+ TW.
This laptop runs the game sluggishly, which makes me weep:(
The computer is so riddled with viruses it won't install anything or move files intact or do much of anything.
So ETW sits on this laptop, doing nothing. I played as the Prussians for a while and conquered all of the German lands but got too annoyed at the battles going slow and everything being..sluggish.
