You have a spinning disc with a line running through it.
An apple and a pentagon spinning on it.
The interpretation of which could range from the 'ying and yang' to the 'omg why is there fruit on a spinning disc?'
You can't exactly say that everyone is copying it when there is some amibiguity to it's actual meaning.
There are countless number of religions in the world today, a lot of whom share huge amounts with the rest. No reason why there can't be some simularity between two Churches, it actually just reinforces the part that they share:)
This is an interesting idea, but it's already much too similar to existing religions (Discordians, namely... and Oracles perhaps) to be unique. If Sirius needs religion, it needs a vast variety or religions, not several similar religions.
Maybe a sun-worshipping religion based on the Aztec one?
That could lead to interesting human traffic and such, given the human sacrifices.
Maybe the church of the Gaians? You'd already be more or less affiliated with a faction then, and you could preach about how planets could be sentient, the Gaia Hypothesis, etcetera...
You can use you imagination to come up with some pretty wacky stuff.
Try to be unique - that's what counts.
Just sayin'.
I say this because I don't worry about upsetting you, because you don't pull people's arms out of their sockets when you lose. Discordians are known to do that.
I suggest a new strategy, gentlemen - let Mal win.

Besides made up religions, "real" religions exist in Discovery and Freelancer as well.
Read Malta's infocard for one example, it'll tell you that millions of Outcasts are Catholic.

Note the Buddha statue in New Tokyo.
Most likely there for religious purposes rather than looking nice.

Worship the machine.
We spend all our time in this game in machines, in ships.
Why not have a religion about that?
You could have some interesting RP with the Harvesters, to be sure.
Very interesting indeed.
Well, no.. we don't hold the patent. In fact, several new "Polyprophets" and "Grand Masters" have appeared recently, even in Gallia. We don't mind 'em. Welcome to the "Council of Kooks", High Priest of Rage.
Sun worship? I believe Montezuma/Kukulkan may have that base covered..
Is Discordianism a "real" religion? Gonna find out when I die, no doubt..
It doesn't really bother me to have in-game religions, so this idea is fine by my standards, I have a few religious characters even if I'm not religious. So it's all in the name of Roleplay.
