Heya
Something odd just happened. Im on my computer I normally use on Chrome. All of a sudden it shuts down. Black screen. Thinking its one of those random resets its not. I push the power button and reset button on my case. Nothing.

Turn off , unplug from outlet and then turn on the Power supply.
Still nothing.

Any ideas?
Power is still being fed to the machine though. The network lights in the back (Green and Orange) are on and blinking.

Can you start the computer?

Does the little green light at the front of the computer come on?

Does the computer make any noise when you press the power button?

Do the fans run when you press the power button?

No little green light and no fans is very, very bad. You might have a probem with your power supply.

Im thinking it may be a case problem. Or the power button is just not working.
Lights in the back are on so power is still getting through.

First off you should clarify "shuts down", did your computer go through an actual shutdown, or did it simply turn of (like you flipped the power supply switch, or unplugged it)

I'd start to suspect your Power supply first.

Since modern Power supplies all ways provide some power to your motherboard to maintain a sort of "standby" state and wait for a signal to turn on. Power "getting through" is not a indication that the power supply is still good. Motherboards have a power connection known as "power good", if the power supply is outside is normal operating voltage, your motherboard won't power on when you tell it to.

Because your mention of "random restarts" and now not wanting to turn on at all I'd also look at your motherboard, inspect your motherboard and all of the capacitors on it (the small cylinders) especially near your CPU. Check to make sure nothing looks like it overheated and your capacitors are not bulging or leaking (they should have a relatively flat top flat top).

if your motherboard checks out fine I'd lean toward Power supply, unless your PC was built by HP (those power switches aren't the best)

Im bringing in my computer to a store tommorow or tuesday for them to check it out. Hopefully its only the PSU.
Which is 5 some years old. >.<
Update:
Checked the insides, none of the capacitors are leaking or anything. on both of motherboard and graphics card.
When i turn it on. The Power supply first from the back. Then I pushed the power button. The CPU fan runs for 3 seconds then stops. I push the power button again nothing happens.

When first time you PC shutdown was any kind of smell or smoke coming from PC itself?Because if power supply is fried or overheated then it usually makes smelly smoke.I saw this happen few times.
Not sure what else can it be problem but definitely something with power supply.
