But anyways, I don't think it'll be too bad.
With the USA server, (I'm in Europe, Croatia, close to Czech), I have 130 ping.
Now, depending on how good your ISP is and where exactly in there you are, your ping can be better or worse than that.
It won't be bad though, I think.

Note: If you can't log in, but want to check ping, do this:
Start --> Run --> Write "cmd" -->Press Enter --> A black DOS console window appears --> Write "ping 82.113.48.5:2302" --> Press Enter --> See what your ping is.

I am playing from Canada (eastern side) and it doesn't create any noticable lag. I got a ping of about 150.

As Swift said, log in and find out. Personally my ping hovers around 155-170, which is good enough to play but not good enough to PVP effectively. As long as you can overlook the occasional lag and jumping around you'll be ok.

Im in the US and my ping is generally 140-150, works just fine generally.

I'm having a problem though: I've activated the mod using FLMM but when I start up Freelancer, the main menu screen comes up with "Discovery Mod 4.85" and everything yet it still lists my version number as 1.0.

It doesn't allow me to connect to any Discovery server because it says that I don't have version 4.85. How can I fix this?

I would start by re-installing the mod, also, make sure you are using FLMM 1.3x. To re-install:

Use restore backups in FLMM

delete the mod from FLMM

Re-download the mod

Re-install it into FLMM

activate it.

If that doesnt work then we will try something else, that should work though.

I've been playing on Disco for more than a year now from Indiana. Run an average ping of 170, and I really don't have that many issues with combat.
