Or you ever have seen a Police SWAT truck with the ability to gun-out a tank? (Gunship)

And yes, you would still be able to use as Battleship and Battlecruiser captain all Upgrades available.
As far as I read it, it is compatible downwards but not upwards.

Capship-nerf because of the Armour-plating restriction?
I dont think so, you may elaborate on an example why you think that way please.

Not a truck, a tanker or bulk carrier. And yes. I can easily imagine them reinforced with horisontal and vertical beams in their enormous cargo holds, and welded armor plating on the outside. Those ships are huge, and manouver like a pig, just like our tradeships do. However, being huge, they have enormous flotation potential, that is, they can carry a lot. And, if they can carry a lot of food/oil/grain/rocks... they can carry a lot of armor. So, no problem there. Besides, all that additional armor is not that usefull on a comercial ship as it is on a warship, because they are designed to handle stress differently. Warships are inherently more sturdy, with more compartments, structural reinforcements etc. That is, battleship has more health than the trade ship. Slap some armor plating on it, and it actually works properly. As a "health" multiplier.

Now, how does a SWAT truck outgun a tank? well... a stretch of imagination, but three men with portable anti tank missiles outgun a tank, in a short time at least. However, I haven't actually understood your question regarding SWAT truck, tank and Gunship.

So it is logical to spend 850 millions in Sirian credits for a CAPAU8 on a Train as to use the money to buy, equip and outfit a dozen escort Fighters and more?
Strange way to use money really.

You could for that amount of money easily hire -every- Mercenary around/available.

(This is about RP; RP means that there should be some disadvantages; and not letting, for the sake of 'balancing', have anybody having everything.)

Actually for that amount of money one can equip a cruiser or battleship even. However, I wasn't pointing to the money factor. If one wants to spend extraordinary amount of money, it's his or hers private thing, right? I mean, who would live in a manor that has the area of half a square kilometer, when he doesn't need to? Yet, people do so, since they can afford it.

Other thing: It would be perfectly logical to do as you say if we had 1000 players on line at the any given moment. However, we have to make-do with what we have, so there is the issue.

Don't restrict armour upgrades. Think of the more expensive ones as being made of higher quality materials, instead of being so large that only battleships can mount them.

Remember the prices in-game are not exactly representative of what they would be in the discovery universe. You can't exactly "buy" a dreadnaught after all.

You can't exactly "buy" a dreadnaught after all.

1. That cost loads of cash to get, and to manufacture... and would like the Battleships itself not being sold to just everyone who walks in.

2. What are then the Capship-users all are complaining about doing?
This will be restricted as I heard by handing out the BS's licenses via forum/faction approval and admins!?

So why not restrict the higher classed Upgrades in some way too?

Its not that this change would harm server gameplay dramatically, you just wouldnt be able to mount EVERY armor upgrade on nearly EVERY ship.

Is that so bad?

//anyways, of that topic:
I also have seen Fighters using a Capital Ship Thruster because it is harder to rip it off the ship.
Can't say I really support this behaviour.

can t help - but it does at least sligthly reeks of jealousy.

"there is a gunboat that has a 900.000.000 armour mounted and i cannot beat it, cause i only installed a type 4 for 50.000.000. - and i find that unfair, - cause quite frankly - ... my SKILL is higher - and i am about to loose against an inferior pilot that only wins cause he has better gear."

yes - i also think that its inappropriate to have a 900 million armour on a 30 million ship. - but i do also realize that most part of me thinking its inappropriate is actually only thinking "i cannot / do not want to trade my backside off to afford the same".

even those people that come with RL comparisons ( that never work - unless you bend them to breaking point in your favour ) could realize that a highly modified car can easily cost a tenfold of the base car.

but lets put it into balance.

if armour was restricted - and along with the new faction restrictions. - i would seriously attempt to buff up the larger capital warships. - in the end..... there is no reason left to keep them artificially weak anymore, now that we are certain that they really "earned" their right to carry a high grade armour and we can also be sure that factions make 100% sure that only responsible people fly them.

then they can be balanced to be the dreaded "check mate move".

oh - and transports..... the only times i failed to pirate a transport / liner was cause i made fatal mistakes on my side.... never cause a transport had a high armour installed.

I could go out and buy a cheap car for 500 quid.
I could spend 500,000 adding on armour and god knows what onto it.
In the end if someone is willing to lose the cargo space and pay the price, fair play.
I find trains tend to die to bombers no matter what armour they have. Just may take an extra few minutes, something I relish in anyway ^.^

The only reason I would spend that much on the car would be if I was in mortal peril every time I went for a drive (more so than usual) with people driving about with RPGs strapped onto their cars etc.

If that is what people assume is the reasoning for this all....
This ... is... just.... ....
