We <3 our import transports!

According to the wise and almighty Igiss, all import ships in the mod are to be replaced.

So, I think we all agree that the Homeworld ships, are, to put it politely, fugly. I haven't heard one person express satisfaction with them, and I've seen precious few people even fly them.

As far as I know, the only other imports left are the Kujira GMG whale(Rebel transport from Star Wars) and the Firefly bretonian civilian transport (from the TV series of the same name).

I happen to really like both these ships. The Firefly could use a reskin (the current one isn't pretty) but I think it fits as well in the Disco universe as it does in its own. The Kujira is the opposite, it is a little out of place but it's one of the cleanest, most beautiful ships in the mod IMO.

More importantly however, these ships fill useful niches in the mod, and provide more alternatives to the godawful Zoner Guard/ZBT spam we've been seeing.

So, have Whedonites been flying around RPing Browncoats? Does the Kujira have any hidden warts? Did I miss an import that you love? Voice your opinion here!

Spent many a happy day in the old "Raider" before it became the Combat Service Freighter.

And there's the "Ugly Betty", bright orange nail polish and all. Always a favorite of the Fnordettes, as the small size and agility seemed to be what a 23cm globe would choose to fly.

I love my Firefly too. I wouldn't give it up for anything.

But, Discovery is not Star wars, and Discovery is not Firefly. Discovery is Freelancer, and the Firefly and Whale don't fit in with the crowd. While I'll be disappointed to see the Firefly go, I've come to accept that it will be replaced eventually.
After all, it's not fair on everyone who's other favourite imports got replaced if the Firefly remains.

the Whale is an import? i thought it looked rather alright among the FL crowd, even it it's an import, it looks alright in terms of compadibility.

the goal is to replace all the imports - without exceptions. - and that includes the marauder, the homeworld ships, bsg ships, star wars, star trek, serenity firefly ... everything.

but if you don t want a revised "whale" to be "godawful spammed" like the ZBT - we can make sure that it ll be so ugly that no one will want to fly it - problem solved.

the point is - we replaced some popular designs already - and its hard to justify to get rid of some imports - but not others.. . about the firefly, - i don t think we can alter the skin of it - while there s no real "copyright" for modded stuff - its just bad manners to meddle with models made by others without the consent.
