A Discovery without Capital Ships

Put very simply, I believe that capital ships should be a special right.

Perhaps gunboats should be freely purchasable, but nothing else is really needed for a diversification of combat and RP.


But that's just me.
And, yes, I'm a proud cap owner.

Never - ever- ever remove capital ships out of Discovery :nono:. I will make it boring! Hence, What the heck would the bombers attack?!? They will have to be removed if Battleships are removed.

I am not a huge fan of this idea but I understand its merits. Somewhat along the same vein, maybe a higher RP standard could be required of capital ships. Not sure what standards but maybe something based on complaints followed by official review of a cap pilot's behavior.

Voted no.
It's one of the drawcards to Disco.
It's a fun thing to do.
It brings a variety to fights. I would not like to play on a server that only has fighters.
I like dodging them, or going up against them as a test of my skill.

I'm looking forward to one day I can fly a capital ship. For now I'm happy flying fighters.

I like the threat they bring to a lonesome fighter.
I like seeing a battlegroup made up of fighters, Caps, etc.
I like need for teamwork to bring one down (theoretically. )
I fly only fighters so I can't say what it's like from the other side... But Capital ships is a good thing.

Removing them is not a good solution.

Removing ships involves a character wipe, if I understand correctly, so this is infeasable even if it were desirable. I vote NO.

Ok, I voted no, but this is because I am for keeping them but .. using my way of reducing cruisers and bigger ships. I still believe my idea is good and it could be worked in a way that it makes RP more omnipresent in the game (As in, if you play the game, you know about what's happening in the RP story).

I'm not going to explain the whole idea again but it involves so many details, I think I'm going to write a post saying everything that it would imply with those changes I came up with the other players after they told me about some details.

Because I'm thinking that capital ships are awesome! But they are too powerful to be owned by every player that has been playing for more than 2 months. Anyone who got a cruiser should be known by the players in his faction for his RP implications and not some no where guy they don't even know about.

We got your point but there was no need for sarcasm. And, at least, if you're going to say something, explain yourself. We know you don't like the idea, you voted. So what's the point of posting for only saying another time "no"?

I don't want them gone. I like to play with them, they serve a purpose, and come on, flying a big ship is entertaining.

Either everyone gets em, or no one does. I say keep the things.

Powertrading isn't the only way to gain something, certainly its one of the easiest, but its certainly possible to gain a Gunboat or Cruiser (Heck, even a Battleship) with a well played Faction trader, it'll probably just take a while. If we got rid of Capital Ships this server would lose a ton of its appeal, whether its actually flying one, writing a story for one, or RP'ing around them.
