no.

do you see any such limitations on other popular games? i dont, and if you do, id like you to point me to it. so far, nearly every game out there which ive seen (fps mainly, since rts' allows players to choose when to play, and the outcome is mostly "give up" "lost" or "win") have a way to keep number of AFKs under control by auto kicking after say 5-10 minutes of afk, or more than 2 rounds of afk (in the case on CS:S servers, like my clan's). that keeps it fair for people to play and gives them enough time to take a piss/crap if need to, but keeps it fair for those waiting in line to join said server. perhaps reducing the time from 15 minutes to 5 minutes on the AFK counter would be a good idea for discovery, but i dont think there should be anything done that autokicks players after said amount of time just because they got into the server before someone else did.

NO. With working two jobs, I can play two ways, a few minutes here and there before work/after work, and one day off for a long time. I really look foward to playing for a while on my day off. Sometimes I fly around for a while trading until I see some buddies come on. Then the real fun begins. And right in the middle of a good battle or a great time with my buds, I time out? It's frustrating enough when the server crashes at times like this.

I've waited to log in, and if you keep trying, it doesn't take that long. First come, first servered.

If this idea happens, you're going to create more work for the Admins, and you're going to piss a lot of people off.

"I didn't F1! I just timed out!!"
"Sorry guys, I only have 2 minutes left to play before I time out, have fun on that Gamma raid without me."

If this server was maxed out 24 hours a day, then maybe, possibly, I doubt it but you never know, I might give this more than a half seconds thought and a weak half-thumb up.

But it's not, so NO.

You ask me why Im weary, why I cant speak to you.
You blame me for my silence, say Its time I changed and grew.
But the war's still going on dear, and theres no end that I know...
And I cant say if were ever...
I cant say if were ever gonna be free.

There is only one word to answer this, it doesn't need explanation.

While it's a good start to an idea, it seems there are far worse effects from it than there is helpful.

As an alternative, what about the possibility of having the inactive kick dynamic based on the number of people online? That would be a start.

Some ideas are good only in that they make you realize just how nice the situation is now and how bad the alternatives can be.

This is one of those.

It's just you. I rarely ever see the server full. Timezones, you see? I've been in fights longer than 4 hours, how do you expect to explain being suddenly disconnected in space after a certain amount of time?

And I think just like IP Bans this won't be able to work in certain areas, where an IP Ban would take out half a city.

I'd rather go to multiple servers than to limit time online.

It kind of irks me when I get kicked for sitting in a station talking to people even though there's only say, 88 players on.

Oh, I know, that can definitely be annoying! I wish the autokick was able to tell if you're sending messages and act appropriately. Unless it can, in which case it should do that now.
