I hate to be the barer of bad news, but since I have started mining around Pittsburgh I have seen a huge increase in "X Player is attempting to engage cloaking device." and then see the person involved get kicked from the server.

I'm not sure if it has been a common problem (I don't see any threads around here about it and a search turned up nothing), but if any of the server administrators have extra time (err... you're all kinda busy...) could you possibly look into it? It doesn't seem to be affecting a lot of people (it hasn't even happened to me yet and I have seen it done to at least five or six people) but it's a good sign that the cloak detection is a little buggy.

EDIT: Ok, sorry about that guys. Turns out it's just the new anti F1 system.

Well, ppl often lose connection and it is detected as what we call F1ing aka Cloaking. F1ing to escape is against the rules and the ''cloaking'' system you are talking about is to inform ppl in the area that the guy is F1ing, either if its for escaping or because he needs to disconect fast. Cloaking is just a inRP way to say someone F1ed.

...so it's IRP for everyone to have a cloaking device? Herm.

No, its just that there is an inRP explication that has been invented for most things, like ionstorms for lag.

I await the day someone F1's on an Osiris.

Anything I say is not intended as offensive, and to try and deliberately misinterpret it as such would be an attempt at trolling via misrepresentation.

It's not a conspiracy, it's localised bias. They're not intelligent enough to form a conspiracy.

Cloaking message is just an indication that the person lost connection, still not a indication wether he F1ed.

Which is frustrating, I was in a pvp and I was on the win side of the fight then poof lost connection, I instantly relogged in (thank goodness the time limit for relog in was reduced) I spent the next 5min being accused of F1ing, because they saw the cloaking message.

This still needs to be known, when you see the cloak message it does not mean they F1ed, it could but it also could mean the individual lost connection as well.

Maybe, "Ship has gone dark"...scifi speak for powering down everything to be undetectable. I passed three tonight and one last night who F1ed--none to avoid combat. Just happened by as they did. What is lost now when this is done?

The problem is theres no way to prove if they've F1'd or lost connection. I have an ancient wireless adapter that is prone to randomly dieing, so this is a problem for me. Plus for some inexplicable reason whenever the phone rings it kills the internet.
