I liked what you had going at the start, it was just far too flimsy.
I'd post an image but photobucket is down for uploads atm.
The best comparison I could give would be Rogue ships. They have similar control foils, but theirs are rather heavy. The current fins look almost unnecessary.
Try what you had the first time but make the fins larger, the rollbar heavier. Like a ship you would take into a field of shifting tons of warped metal.
Actually, now that I think about it, they make me think of a garlic press. Which might be appropriate for the region. Though I think only the Xenos would appreciate a Junker ship which comes with a lever which crushes its pilot into a fine paste.
I think you need to remap the textures in the engine exhausts. They look a little twisted, but that might just be the angle. Can we get a full rear view?

they are twisted, i'm horrible at texturing =P
TBH, I've never had any sort of classes with 3d modelling, I got the program and it's been trial and error for about 10-12 years now learning how to use it, texturing properly always eluded me... I cant even understand the guide frozen sent me =( So, if this thing's going to be added, I'll probably have to send it to someone else for the real textures.
The best possible advise I could ever supply you is to learn how to do these things yourself.
There are plenty of people here whom will teach and teach and teach until you get it right.
But if you hand them your half finished work to be completed for you they will throw it away.
The people who know how to do things here in disco are completely and utterly spent on having partially finished projects handed to them. They wont do it. They really just will not touch the model.
right click on model, convert to editable poly. on right column you should see option "modifier list", and below it, 5 little icons, vertices, edge, something (forgot name), poly, and element mode. select poly mode, and select the surfaces that use the engine grill texture. on the right side, scroll down to the option called "quick planar mapping" and hit it. should sort the texture screwing up part.
Nice work Tenacity! It has a real Junker built-in-my-basement-er-shipyard feel to it. You beat me to it over night! Just talking yesterday about (eventually) doing a Bull Dog replacement.
The only real thing that bothers me is the cockpit which doesn't seem to fit with any of the current Junker ships that I'm aware of. Perhaps you could squash the current cockpit down, make it flatter, and put something similar to the cockpits on the CSV ships on it instead?
I tend to agree about the back wings, and personally I liked this design better: http://i29.tinypic.com/16a9r14.jpg Something like that, but with the bottom fins more boxy and a little taller, again, like the CSV.
Basically it feels Junkerish already, but perhaps it needs a stronger connection to the current junker line.
Coming from the same place you have of teaching myself 3d and never really getting the hang of texturing I know what you mean. But it's actually pretty good, I just personally prefer general Junker textures;)
Anyway, just some thoughts and suggestions. Keep up the good work!
EDIT: As an aside, I think Junker ships are one of the few where kitbashing actually really helps!
