Just took a 200k mission on my junker in gallia... 200k would be considered easy anywhere else, a quick five minutes in the field and you get your paycheck. I ended up losing more on this mission than I would have made if I had been able to finish it.
Wave after wave of 3 basilisk bombers at a time, spamming their supernovas like LPI eating donuts. Further, apparently the basilisk can out-turn a Collector... dont know how the hell that happened, but I'd be on the tail of one ship and suddenly he's behind me with his buddies shoving supernovas into body cavities that should never have to experience that kind of pain.
Bomber patrols near bases are fine. The occasionally bomber plus 2 fighter escorts on a mission, that's fine too. But I'm really starting to get sick of taking a low-pay mission and winding up dead because the mod decides to spawn 3-5 fighters on top of me.
you re doing the mission without backup - and in a CSV? - some missions are not made for that setup. - for example, you also cannot do missions against two waves of 5 osiris each. - for that you either need to be a very good and extremely patient bomberpilot or you need a battleship of your own ( along with friends ).
for anti-bomber missions you need a good fighter - preferably a light fighter. - i have done those missions against bombers only - and an agile fighter ( well, i had an eagle ) cut through them rather easily. - i had a razor and mostly just fired the minirazor - and dodged their fire, no real big deal. ( it was on the closed test server - and yes, due to the low population, i usually had my own NPCs spawn around to assist )
the point is - we expect people to fly with escorts - we expect them to only attempt anti-cap missions with friends, too. - the same can be applied to such bomber missions.
yes, you DO have a point. - missions are rarely done as a group event - and they are mostly a necessary hinderance when it comes to fixing a reputation. - but those missions are not impossible, - you need the right gear for them.
and a CSV - while being a nice little ship - still isn t the very best - although you could possibly dodge them all day long, too - while picking them one by one with a minirazor.
edit: missions that actually pay off profitable..... - in my experience that only works with capital warships, cause their maintenance is lower than a fighter and what you earn is usually pure profit.
I'm not flying a CSV, I'm flying a collector. The CSV is a freighter, the Collector is a VHF. Even as a heavy/slow VHF, it should still turn considerably better than any bomber available. What this tells me is that we have a balance issue with the bombers themselves, on top of the fact that NPC's never run out of energy, and handing them SNAC's was a horrible idea in the first place.
I like the fact that Gallia is a tough place. To many comfortable zones already--we need one that isn't a free walk.
I moved the Barge there full of cargo (about 200mil worth) because the risk makes it a more rewarding challenge.
For the record, I did reps for three Gallic chars before there were bribes and I repped two of them in Collectors and one in a Recycler-- just takes a serious effort. On the missions where I had to kill four gunboats, I just wisely turned around.
