I'm tired of my fricking targets disappearing the second I get 2.5k distance away. I can see players from 14k, there's no reason for every npc in the game to have some mysterious 2.5k cloaking device.

I mean really now, how am I supposed to use long-range weapons when the enemy is all up in my grill?

I think it is hardcoded.

In .84 you wouldn't have noticed that issue since it was possible to solo a fleet with a single cap (while staying in gun range). However, in .85 you have to stay farther away to dodge shots and use long range weapons... making the possibility of the NPC to get out of "range" higher.


EDIT: If it is not hardcoded, I feel that extending the view range would drastically boost server lag :S

well, i was on my order carrier tonight, took a mission in delta, and the waypoint spawned 5 bh destroyers. My shields were down in half a second (and keep in mind, my ship has battleship shielding), I used up all my bats and bots within 30 seconds of the start, every time i tried to get distance so i could dodge attacks the npc's would disappear - but i'd still be getting hit by their fire even at 3-4k distance.

I logged onto that character with 19.5 million credits tonight. After doing 4 missions, that one failed, I'm at 17.5 million.

I'm starting to hate this game more and more. Everything has gotten more frustrating and more difficult with 4.85 -_- Trading sucks ass now, mining isnt any more profitable than it was in 4.84, any missions that give a decent amount of credits take a fleet of players to finish (which defeats the purpose, as the money gets split). Ship prices went up, repair costs seemingly went up, the cost of bots/bats seemed to go up even.

I dont even want to log on anymore, I lose more money than I make no matter what I"m doing, and the only player interaction I get anymore is from pvpwhores swarming people with battleships.

I'm about to just say **** it and give up here -_-

It is hardcoded, it can be changed though. But it's not a good idea to have NPCs able to spawn 14 k away. The whole idea of them spawning so close is to reduce the amount of spawned NPCs at any one time.

they spawn like 3.5k away but appear at 2.5 you can make them appear at 3.5 or make it 4k

I had the same problem when I had a Geb, I just took easier missions.

But I agree with you here, they need to show up sooner.

let me tell you about money making.

dont do missions. ever. unless your re-fixing, dont ever, ever do it as a way to make money. they just frustrate me, and it seems your the same way. get a transport and look for a trade route. i have a 30|10 route, at least i think thats what it is. about 30 minutes for 10 mil. by the way, what ship do you have? i would just RP and help in battles with a capital.

if you make them 4k out it wont add that much spawning and it will cover the BS weapons. i myself do notuse cap ships but why deny others the chance to use them against NPC's

Hmm on a corsair bomber of my i made like 30 mils an hour doing missions so missions is a valid way to make credits.. and one more thing.. they should make more.. we had a talk about this... when you do missions against BS's you should be rewarded more.. as a lone BS cannot take on 5 other BS's and a lone bomber cannot do that as well.

So say a hard mission will make more credits.. but the answer was "more missions= more NPC's = More lag"
