Quote: said yes, but I only agree because I just think we need more good generic guns. Photon would be nice too. But it doesn't make much sense that a civilian would be using heavy grade weponary. Its like instead of having a household rifle buying a minigun.

Makes perfect sence, Because NO OTHER GUN, Is balanced IRP like that. Well, Junkers maybe.
All other guns are all balanced by PVP considerations really. THe only reason they are crippled, is because they say Civillians=/= Hard target, Shaft the 16 factions who have them as their Faction gun. At any rate, That analogy is false, Because most Of them go Grab Military weapons because there own ones suck. More like trading a Pistol, for a shotgun

Well, corps are mostly shooting bombers. 750m/s high refire is pretty nice for that.
But like I said, I would definitely like some 4.00 700m/s affair too.

Also for real guys, 'Civilian' =/= 'your dad'.

Why?Beacause they are the faction gun and the most IRP for 16 factions. THere is no logical reason to give them the utter shaft, like they have.

Adding additional civilian guns is a great idea. Not only does it give the, well, civilians more options, it gives everyone more options. Of course, most won't take it, but it could really help a group seem ragtag with an assortment of weaponry.

As to strength, the more common guns seem to either take a hit in damage (Flashpoints) or efficiency (Zoner guns). I think if we lean more toward the latter and buff up Flashpoints to damage levels similar to other guns, though not necessarily having them as efficient would work well. That seems to be the general case overall - factions that are less organized tend to have strong guns that aren't efficient.

Let's not forget that chainguns are Civilian and are also particle guns, with 750 m/s speed and graviton shield bonus. Purple Goddesses do 1830 hull DPS, which is slightly below the typical 1900 DPS of most faction guns. The reason people don't use them much (besides that they used to suck before) is that they're Class 10, so you're SOL if you're flying a ship without class 10 hardpoints, and also their price is bugged - the regular gun costs a ludicrous 380 thousand credits while the turret is correctly priced at 100k credits or so. They're about as energy efficient as Fury 5's.

Why don't we make Purple Goddesses into Class 9 guns and open up their use a bit?

If they become a proper particle gun with that particle effect, we wouldnt need to make one.

shouldn't make them overpowerful. At the moment, who uses flashpoints?

Just make one of each... or just something everyone can use. And make them worth using.
