Police factions does not serve real purpose true- giving them purpose would be better then removing them.

Sirius Police concept- it requires a lot of work but it might be fun:
-Restrict Police via Tech Nerf to Military stuff, same for Military on Police stuff- severe nerf to make both factions using their own technology.
-Police should fly only LFs and SHFs and special assault transports too- it would require 5 new police transports to be added together with 4 new SHFs.
-Police ships should have different balance then the Military ones- Police ships should be boosted on proper level to make them scary not OP on stats but with giving them other bonuses:
-better scanners
-better CDs,
-special torpedo for the police SHFs dedicated bomber slot-troll missile should be added- special made to easy destroy mounted equipment but not the ship.
-P-transp(bring the P-transp back to its 4.85 Level) like transps to board smugglers and sell their cargo.
-already implemented TLAGSNET

This features would make the police to be fun to fly.

Ive been reading some of the replies where people are posting their thoughts but are not realizing they are voting in opposition to,what they are saying Be sure yout reading the question properly.

With the way everything has been said so far. It makes it seem police factions really have nothing special about their roleplay seeing as they are smaller and pretty much won't compare to military interventiom. What would be their purpose?

add stuff for the police like armored transports and SHF and sure we can get rid of all military stuff...BPA for example has a special division which is using military equipement...most of the time we encourage people to use Hussars and Paladins and Transports which are our main ships - we do not allow people to use ONLY [SRD] ships and patrol them around main our systems - they are used mostly for dealing with something heavy. The reality is that we don't actualy have the proper ships to use them efectivly - Clydesdale sure is good if you know how TS properly but still it's not an armored transport - talking about AT : the civillian one is not equiped with CD...so what's the purpose of using it apart of using it as a typical transport with not enough cargo anyway... Shire? no CD...the only ships we can use that are a little more heavy and capable to actualy threat the smuggler in anyway are Firefly - which is an ugly import - and Percheron - Which is big and has 5 guns.... sorry it's no good... We are using Prison liners mostly which have both firepower and cargo...i don't consider prison liners as good quick police response units..they are heavy ... and they are big...

So yeah...hell nerf us all you want but give us something in place of that.

Police factions have no purpouse? Who administrate their respective House Criminal Databases? Who contact violators on comm channel?



Seriously, seek other thing to broke in this game.

Perhaps it would be helpful if you consider the role that jurisdiction plays.

Draw a line.

Smugglers and local unlawfuls - Police get to call the shots. It doesnt mean that Navy boys cannot act against them - but the Police have jurisdiction, and should be allowed to take over or control any operations against these particular threats.

Foreign and Capital Threats - Navy gets to call the shots. It doesnt mean that Police cannot act against these threats - but the Navy has jurisdiction, and should be allowed to take over or control any operations against these particular threats

Special Forces - now this one might require ID updates. These guys should be calling the shots when it comes to Nomads, rogue Police/Military ships, and operating outside their own space. These guys and only them, should be the ones harvesting Nomad remains out there in deep space. Special Forces should never be involved in dealing with petty crime like some cop out on the beat...

That's actually probably the best point made here so far, Friday.

But, a lot of people don't think in terms of "Jurisdiction", unfortunately.

But, yes, you're more or less right.


The only major problem with that, would be, and I know this thread isn't about 'indies vs official factions', but, this is a very real thing.

If it were all based on Jurisdiction, you'd have indie police players shouting at indie or official military faction players anytime they both showed up to deal with a situation.

Police does not have the tools (ships and tech ID restriction for the Navies) to fight criminals in their current form. First tech should be provided- special tailored police stuff- like I explained in the other post, then ID changes could be made and then finally you can talk about jurisdiction roles- otherwise it is like unlawful Bandit said:

Giving the police factions nice toys to play with doesn't change the core problem- that the police serve no separate purpose.
Eliminate the police factions. Most of them are empty half the time anyways. Consolidation will help improve faction recruitment and activity.

Police could have a better RP function if the game was balanced for incremental combat. Make house capital systems secure, then people can RP police, interdicting contraband, fighting the small pirates that get through the jumpholes etc.
