Why in the world is it so tight lipped?
Giant surprises are not that fun ya know, it's far more fun to see updates and to know what's coming so you can get excited.
Did you all not notice that when those videos of 4.85 stuff was released? Everyone was far more excited.
You may say it cuts down on complaining but well, complaints need to be heard sometimes.
If this is going to screw players over in some people's opinions then well, that's just a good indication of how a closed book can be far more harmful than an open one.

I don't like "/signed", so I'm gonna be more longwinded about saying that I agree with Linkus.

the way it like that now, are all of the Guys who took advantage of price increases, to bnecome instantly rich
Hardly. Igiss got annoyed with 4.85 becuase there was nothing new an interesting to discover, everything had been revealed already.
I am a firm believer that faction leaders should be told about changes that may be happening to their factions, to they can respond and act appropriately.
However, this is Igiss' mod, it is his forum, and it is his desicion, which I will respect and obey.
There's a not-so-subtle difference between revealing all and not showing anything.
The teaser video that was done near the end of the development of 4.85 is a very very good example of a smart way of generating excitement.
Take new game releases for instance.
The dev's never show it all before it comes out but they show enough for people to physically sweat with anticipation over it.
You CAN have undiscovered things that people go YAY about when they find but at the same time letting people in on the development of some things, eg if a ship is going to be included, is not a terrible evil thing and it lets people get excited over it all.
Not only does this all damage how much people enjoy the mod (Anticipation can do a lot to help things) but it also creates lots of divides and jealousy with some folk.
Maybe even a bit more developer interaction on the forums would be handy. Currently what we have is this:
1. Random person proposes fantastic idea.
2. Plenty of folk agree.
3. It is never ever given an official word and slowly dies.
There is no feedback, there is no official recognition of well..anything.
Essentially what I am suggesting is to make the development of the mod more public or transparent. Yes keep some things to yourself but also show off some of the new features. God knows that plenty of other mods throughout the gaming world manage to do that quite easily.
The main reason why development is so hush-hush is because discovery has this way of perceiving everything that happens to the mod as some sort of an insult or pvp-nerf or rp-pwn of one group or another, and then a giant flame war happens. Honest to god I do not remember one single change that when announced didn't spark a massive war of flames, and sometimes they even sparked one without being announced because somebody happened to run his mouth in some skype chat and rumours got passed around.
When nothing is finalised and you people start flaming it, you are not helping. Thus the policy is that nothing will be revealed until it is finished, as this is after all still Igiss's mod first. Interesting, and doable suggestions are still proposed, discussed and possibly implemented in the dev forums though.
