Input is carefully considered from the original forum proposal. What isn't posted are half finished results, some of which sometimes affect the general story of the game. Mod features get added in via DSUpdate periodically with as much community feedback as possible.
Also, if I may suggest creating a new thread for this discussion if you guys want to continue it...
The reason for being tight-lipped is because we (or me, if you like it better that way) wish to present information in an organized form, and make sure that all information is relevant and correct. I cannot, therefore, present you a list of features that were not implemented, cause I'm not sure if all of those features will make it into the release. That's what many commercial devs do on a regular basis, but that's not what we are doing. No need to get more money/time from our publisher.
Storyline and screenshots fall under same category. While stories, places, systems are under construction, there's not much point in presenting them to public. Also, every member of the dev team may have *slightly* different vision of what we are doing. That's why I insist that I should be the one who makes all pre-release announcements.
There were announcements before 4.85. About Gallia, about Gallic factions, and about many other things; we posted a FAQ, we posted a video, lots of screenshots long before the mod final release. You can't blame us for not giving you anything at all.

Wow. (Second line that was here was removed.)
Anyway, point is not blaming "them", or you for not giving us anything at all.
We just want a little discussion before you do something big. (Our definition of big and your's may be different.)
The work that goes on with Discovery is a large amount of work and it is definitely commendable.
It's just that everyone else then get's left out of the loop up untill a month before the next big release when a single teaser video may be released.
Entire faction roleplays have been overwritten before and often some of the smallest things in the game (Eg the new weapons) are overlooked when the big surprise comes.
I point again to the Freeworlds development group. They have chopped and changed their minds about massively important things multiple times, yet no one seems to mind.
There IS a point to showing systems and places to people without any mention of the Storyline. Think if the Shrine (Odd example, I know that was kept secret for others reason than these) was shown off by itself, or parts of it were, and no explanation was given for it all. The amount of rumours and hype and just mystery over it all would be fantastic.
I still do stick to my point though. There is a huge amount of great work going into Discovery yet there is so little publicity for it that it's hard to hyped up about it.
I agree with letting the community know more about the changes, as it allows some time to adjust RP and have stuff make some more sense when it comes out
input is also good, after all, we've added tons of custom ships and factions based on the ideas of people in the community and not on the development team
but I must ask what exactly started this topic, something linking back to an IMG shipline or faction RP change, but the original posts have been changed so I do not know what exactly is going on with them
if anyone cares to PM me about it then go ahead, but since it's off the postings I won't ask for it to be posted again
